Three Pantheons - Statement of Intent
I've decided I'm going to release the Three Pantheons book this year, warts and all, after one more typography pass.
I've been working on it for more than a decade, and somewhere along the way I stopped improving so much as moving things around to adjust to things as I myself, and the real world around me, changed. In other words, I'd fallen into the same trap of so many directors and designers of chasing a moving target without realizing it. I've decided that at some point I needed to finish it, just stick it in the can, and call it done and move onto newer projects which this is keeping me from. This is that point.
Three Pantheons was originally an RP campaign played online between a group of people. As such, I do not own all the characters and this was a big part of shifting things around. There are plot holes that made sense in the context of what we were doing, but don't convert to the novel well, and a significant amount of my time was trying to move all the pieces around to remove the holes or hide them, without damaging the core narrative. I've come to the realization this simply isn't possible, so what stands now will be the more or less final version.
Since I don't own all the characters, I did get permission to novel-ize it in this way, but I've decided not to monetize in any way since I don't feel bringing money into it would be good.
Lest you fear you're only getting rehashed RP, I have added significantly to the narrative in some areas, which may be visible, to make it more focused on Nathan as a central character. Approximately 50% of the material is 'new'. Additionally, I've tried to in most cases leave quotes from other players alone, as it feels more authentic to me that way.
I've gotten a few beta readers and may consider putting out a call for a few more, but this should be considered my intent to start releasing chapters in full by Anthrocon in June. I'll probably do a final compiled version once I'm done.
I've got enough logs and notes I could write another 3-4 books but right now I'm only committing to THIS book. Whether I do any sequels in this setting will remain to be seen; I simply don't know what the future holds regarding my interest, though if there's enough outside call, I might be able to do at least the second one.
Anyways, that's all, I just wanted to let you know to be on the lookout for this later in the year. Thanks.
