In a very recent trailer posted it kinda looks like she's 40 and overweight? Also looks like she teaches gender studies or something at the local community college or something lol. I think being mildly athletic is important to the character because she needs to be able to at least keep up with the turtles during a chase, and do at least some basic evasion/dodging.

I don't think I ever explained it fully which is understandable because it wasn't relevant until now. While I emphasized some positive things about myself, for humor I blended put a bunch of things I was insecure about. His base form is short because I never reached 6 feet like my dad who's like 6'3" or something, he has buck teeth since I had a bit of an overbite as a kid, and the reason I picked a chimera/draconequus is due to me being racially ambiguous, in particular he is around 50% zebra because I am 50% black. Yeah that's right, I am in fact a PoC as your kind like to call it, Kind of puts a dent in your disingenuous assertion that I am a racist with that 1950's crack you made eh? moving on, this means in effect the current iteration of April doesn't look too different from my own mother. naaaah don't think it's that far. I mean I don't know, bait and switch isn't beyond hollywood, but so far I just raise an eyebrow at the art-style (seems like a scuffed version of the "spider-verse" thing?) and I am worried about the writing due to seth rogan. Best case scenario regarding Rogan is analogous to how John K. is hard to work with, but having to be on a children's network forced him into a box and made his work better. and of course I have reservations about April too but we barely see her. I was kind of surprised how much reaction that got so far, I just made a joke because I did a comic with the 80's version and some people got no chill.

If you say so, A lot of the time in film adaptations April is the one actually documenting the story as well as uncovering exposition & stuff so she’s a central character, so it’s usually important she be appealing.

Well I am a R34 artist so I am gonna say “yes”. I will totally admit I have a bias in that regard. I think I have come to dislike Seth Rogan also, so I feel somewhat comfortable judging a book by its cover in this case.

Also as I stated before you can’t really keep up with the turtles and be built like Mrs.potato head (I mean it is an animation you could have her run 60 mph, but that’s somewhat immersion breaking lol)

BTW Contrast her to the last iteration of April who was also black (since lizarman brought race into it). Was remarkably agile and seemed fun from what I saw and I never cracked jokes about her even though I am heavily biased in favor of the original design.

It shouldn't be appealing to anyone, this wasn't done out of any kind of artistic vision or even noble intent. It's Seth Rogan farming for attention online. He would have had her be a rock with a face scribbled on it if he thought it would get a better reaction.

I'm honestly curious to see how far they can take it at this point. If the trend continues we're few reboots away from her being a deaf, mute, paraplegic, transgender, lesbiain, 60 year old, blogger.

You know a few years ago I would have laughed at the hyperbole you just put out, but with the way things just continue to accelerate and escalate, I wouldn’t be surprised if the joke became reality sooner than we’d guess.

On the bright side, it makes more room for actual good content. Anime & manga are becoming really mainstream due to how they seem beyond the grasp of our self-appointed “moral guardians” of the current year based primarily in California.
