I think its a meme at this point. I tried it. I hate it. But I tried it so I CAN say no thank you. As for REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe....that's just stupid. It's absolutely just a meme. Everyone has different tastes.

Tried it once and hated it. Loved pineapple in fruit salad, pineapple-orange juice is the bomb, but it totally ruined the taste of pizza. Then 2 years later I suddenly turned allergic to pineapple! Don't want it anywhere near my pizza . I eannt to enjoy pizza, not swell up and itch for two days.

It's due to how peoples' tastebuds translate the combination of sweet and savory, it seems to come across as off-putting or rancid almost. I love the combination of pineapple with ham as they seem to balance each other out well. Just as there are people who love very bitter things like coffee as their tastebuds are more attuned to the savory/bitter end of the spectrum and they experience a different experience from it.

Wasn’t too crazy about it at first, but after a while, I grew to love Hawaiian styled pizza, now it’s one of my favorite kinds!

Pineapple on pizza is actually super common in Europe (especially Northern Europe for some reason) so the discourse around this from the US has always struck particularly funny to me.
