One of my favourite drinks which you cannot find so commonly outside of Europe is kefir. It's a fermented milk drink which originates in central/eastern Europe, and it has got that lovely sour taste you might associate with other fermented food and drink (kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, etc.). If you like kimchi and kombucha, you'll probably like kefir. :>

We do have some commercial kefir here, maybe I'll give it a try! I do love both Kimchi and kombucha!

In Michigan, there was an Italian deli at basically every corner, all with their own unique subs and pizzas lol. Bakeries too... Man I miss it.

Oh, it's really tasty, and easy to make! It's basically macaroni, bacon, egg, milk and grated cheese on top.

First, you cut the bacon into small pieces and fry them, while boiling the macaroni, then mix them together in a heat-proof form. Mix the eggs and milk, add salt, then pour it into the macaroni and bacon, but not to much, otherwise it takes longer in the oven. Then add as much cheese as you want on top, put it in the oven for an hour or so, and voila!

For food... Not really anything unique, per-se, in the area. Of course, there's the good burger joint, the wood-fired pizza, and the like. I did try the new taco place though, and they have some good stuff. My favorite was the Willy Nelson, as they call it. Braised shortribs, "Asian slaw" (Red cabbage, carrots, a bit of onion, and some sort of garlic & soy-sauce based dressing), and a lightweight garlic BBQ sauce. Very tasty!
