Altumar hatched from an egg among the sea dunes on the territory of the Dark Blood Skates. He was born as a deep-sea wyvern, which have lived beneath the thickness of the sea water for centuries.
Altum was born during a troubled time, when there were many conflicts in the world while the Great Rip Current was raging in his home sea. Despite this, Altum's childhood passed quite peacefully.
At the time of his birth, Altum's family consisted of his father, mother, and older brother. At first, his mother was in charge of his upbringing at first, protecting him from the dangers of the outside world. But in
his early youth, Altumar's mother suddenly disappeared, and the hatchling was left in the full care of his father. His older brother was hardly present during his childhood.
His father was an old, wise and strict dragon who stood for justice and honesty in all things. He was married to Altumar's mother for many years, and during this time they had three hatchlings, including Altum himself.
As a young dragon, Altumar was mentored by his father and taught the basics of life, showing him the good and evil things happening around him. At the time the story was told, he was too old to travel with his son. He spent most of his time on the outskirts of the commune, reflecting on the world's problems.
Gradually Altumar became more independent and stepped out from under his father's care. He began to take an interest in the outside world beyond the water, which he himself had never been in. In his mature years he began organizing his own sea library, in which he tried to gather as much information about the world beyond the water as possible.
During this time period, Altumar met his future love Viridi, who was born in the Forest of ribbon grasses, not far from home. They spent a lot of time together searching for new material for the library. Viridi didn’t share Altumar's great interest in the outside world, but she supported him and helped him in his efforts.
Because of the Great Rip Current, Altum and Viridi hardly left their home, so they quickly decided to establish a "bond" with each other. After a long period of time, the wyverns began to plan a family and the birth of their firstborn. But their plans were interrupted by the unexpected news of the end of the Great Rip Current .Despite his strong feelings, Altumar decided to leave his home and family for the world that had been bothering him all along..
