what's been up with me
so basically I've had a major upheaval in my life the past few months. In December, we had been a couple days late with our rent. my partner and myself had caught Covid and were down that month, but we had it paid off basically immediately and thought nothing of it.
Come March, it had turned out that our landlord took us to court without notifying us over that late rent(which we paid and they accepted, and they continued taking our rent money the following months) and had us served a 48-hour eviction notice. we scrambled to find a place to accommodate our family(which was five people at the time) and our initial finds fell through. we ended up finding a great place, but we can't move in until May. In the meantime, we couldn't find a temporary place to accommodate all of us, our family unit ended up splitting. I'm with my parents, my partner went back to his childhood home, and my nephew is staying with a friend. so I've basically been homeless for over a month, at the moment staying with an uncle who had space.
In the middle of this, my partner, who's been with me for 13 years, left me and our other partner for someone he met a year ago (and had been cheating on me with during that time). It came to light through my parents that he'd been doing a lot more sketchy shit I wasn't privy to. so basically I've also had my heart ripped out of my chest. I'll survive.
(also if you know who it is, please don't antagonize his new partner. They don't know they were made a mistress unknowingly because my ex has been largely dishonest about this whole thing and I'm really fucking done with it to be quite honest.)
so that's where I am right now. still 10 days away from being able to move in to the new place. Things are beginning to look up for me. I still have a partner I love dearly and our 9th anniversary is coming up. I plan on making a big move to the mainland eventually. If things continue to go this smoothly I may even be able to make the jump to homeowner when that time comes.

Also yes, very much seek legal assistance because what that landlord did sounds actually literally illegal in that "They wouldn't fight it so I can get away with it" kind of way.
