How to get better vocals!

I just learned what I am doing wrong with vocals all these years...
You are supposed to add a few delays to the sound, and some reverb as well. In actual studios, these are hardware boxes that sit side by side and you mix them together. So the effects are in parallel. But doing it all on a computer, you slap both effects onto the same track.
This means you have delays, and then a reverb on each and everyone of the delay sounds. In other words, sonic mush.
The fix is to take the sound and send it to two separate busses. One has the delays and the other has the reverb. This is just like what youd do if it was hardware you were setting up. So you get the vocal, the seperate reflections with no reverb, and a single reverb of the single vocal alone. Tada, no more mushy vocals.
