Changes

It's unfortunate when you're a fan of an artist or their characters and have been for a long while, but then their content and output changes over time to focus almost exclusively on things that you don't like, or even things that trigger your anxieties, insecurities and negative emotional states.
I suppose it's down to the artist to draw what interests them, and if they're professional and making money off of their art, to follow what's profitable and that people have the most interest or good reactions to. But it's still a shame when you feel like you 'can't' follow them or be interested anymore when they've moved away from what you enjoy.
I know that the artist(s) don't owe us/me anything, but on a personal level and for my own interests, it's still a shame for me. I hope they do well, however, and that this change in direction results in a success for them, and is as a result of having that success, or that it's given them the right spark of creativity and muse to keep creating that content - I just wish, however, it was content I could enjoy as well, or wasn't at the expense of that content I did/do enjoy, and that success or creativity wasn't focused on just those themes or content that I can't gel with or enjoy.
Yes, this journal is whining or venting. Funnily enough, it's my journal. I can do that here.
Yes, I do not enjoy things that others enjoy. No, I am not obliged to like the same as other people, and neither are you obliged to like what I like.
This rambling thought bought to you by my recent unfollowing of an artist on this platform for this very reason.
And don't worry if you're someone I know personally; it wasn't you - it was an artist who is quite popular and prominent, and whom I think I've only ever exchange a handful of words with in comments, ever.
