Slowly but surely, society has moved on from the uses of game journalists and critics

Legacy media is dying and they know it. Youtube opened a genie out of a bottle and society is never going back unless you ban PC's, mobile devices end servers world wide.

The Catch 22: (in all fairness)
If gaming journos lick ass and say every game is good to appease the publishers, the readers lose faith and stop reading.
If gaming journos speak truth and say a game sucks ass, they offend the publishers who blacklists them and the readers stop reading.

This is why you can't trust any of them. I can understand why so many gaming journos kiss ass. Just like all those YouTubers that kissed Disney's ass and said great things about the Galactic Star Cruiser so Disney would not cut them off. The time of the professional critic is long past. I'll get my reviews from regular folks. Not paid shills.

My problem is a select and organized clique of Journos kissing Disney's ass to ensure free press entry in their parks.
This means they shit on every other company that is NOT Disney.
For example the studio who made the movie Klaus did an amazing job but it was largely ignored by majority legacy media because it wasn't Disney.
The same clique tried the same with Mario but those morons didn't reckon that Mario was bigger than Mickey Mouse
so their scheming backfired.

But they all do that. Kissing ass to keep getting access. Legacy media is a joke at this point. You saw how they were crying that Princess Peach wasn't given enough agency and how she should have been the star of the movie (the one who saved Mario and defeated Browser) because they wanted it to be just another female empowerment story to push their feminist agenda. Thankfully, audiences sent a message. And that message was that they are tired of boring woke garbage! And that's why the Little Mermaid live remake is going to flop.

In the case of Mario it was Nintendo that stepped in and put shit straight. The Original script called for Peach in the lead role while Mario was her idiotic sidekick.
There are remnants in the movie of the Mary Sue Peach and that was the scene where she flew through that obstacle course.
You could say Nintendo (and I believe Miyamoto in particular) saved the movie.
That's why Miyamoto was particularly savage with his comments.
He pretty much states that mainstream critics have NO power over the masses.
You could even say NEGATIVE power because everybody did the reverse to what they say.

If true, then I for one am glad Miyamoto saved it! Female empowerment Woke Mario Movie would have sucked balls.

Honestly, I think that's the funniest thing about all of this is learning Miyamoto-san is a based Gigachad. Like, I genuinely had no idea the man had it in him; I guess when you've been in the business for that long, you learn a few things about how to be an utter savage. No wonder the man's always smiling (actually, to be fair, the only time I've ever seen him frown was during the Kinect demo...he had every right to frown, I've never known one person personally who ever used the bloody thing). XD
