Bambi is my favourite Disney animation classic and one story that should never never never be remade.

Loads of people didn't like the sequel because it was so different to the original film and that's because the characters talked far more.
The original is like a piece of art or a fine wine and remaking it is like painting extra stuff into it or adding something that doesn't fit with it

That's true. The original looked like a National Geographic documentary that they animated.
The sequel looked like a cartoon.

Yes, it's like a geographic documentary and works of art combine to make a film.

I do like the sequel I'm one of those who did and would watch it over and over but compared to the original very finely yeah not really inkeeping with how the film was.

But that sequel was way more respectful then this remake will be, at least it was trying it's own thing

I can picture all the non too subtle jabs at everything hollow-wierd thinks modern audiences don’t like. This includes extreme environmentalism; anti-firearms themes and hatred against straight white males. That last one being the antagonist. And they may gender swap the owl. And thumper’s name will be considered problematic. Heck they might even take away the hunter’s gun and for some reason make them a businessman who will destroy the forest…

Am I missing anything?

All the above from a current year mega-corporation like Disney is painfully ironic….

Like...for real...how you gonna complement a timeless classic's beauty...and then say how you wanna change it? Nah, fam, you don't respect it OR the audience you claim you wanna update it for. I wanna point out THIS comment from the article, because I 100% agree with what they're saying: "I think that completely shielding children from hardship or sadness does them a brutal disservice. We're seeing it every day with how young people are completely destroyed by the slightest setback." I really couldn't have said it better myself. Bambi's mom dying is a fucking heart-wrenching, tragic scene; it teaches us 2 crucial life lessons: 1. death is a natural part of life, and 2. that, sometimes, good people can die for no good reason, especially when those people are those close to us. Kids aren't stupid! They can grasp the concept of death! I learned before I turned double digits watching Mufasa fall off a cliff and get trampled by a stampede of gazelle... AND I'M AUTISTIC! Death is not something that should EVER be sugarcoated for children (even fucking SESAME STREET managed to tactfully broach the topic of death & grieving in the modern era; this woman has NO fucking excuse), and Bambi's mom dying encapsulated that tragedy BEAUTIFULLY. To even THINK of suggesting such a thing "needs to be toned down" shows an utter lack of care, respect, and honesty for ALL involved; but...like I said..."it's MODERN Disney"...when have those 3 core values EVER fucking mattered to these assclowns? >.>

Reminds me of watership down the film compared to that awful cgi take a few years ago,

My thoughts exactly. I remember the Nostalgia Critic said something in his Lorax review where he mentioned that "Fad is just one letter away from fade. When you chase a fad, you're just setting yourself up for failure because people will inevitably chase the next fad and yours will be forgotten." I'm paraphrasing a little, but he's not wrong. There's this episode of Ed, Edd, N' Eddy that tackled a similar idea, and I really think more people need to watch it to understand why you shouldn't try to chase a current trend: you're just going to burn yourself out getting left behind. It's better to be uniquely you and provide something weird & wonderful people will WANT to do rather than just doing what's popular for the time, ya know? That's why I hold such bitter, utter disdain for all of these live action remakes: it's not because I'm nostalgia-blind (not wholly, anyway), it's not because I've an animation bias, it's because, for all of their grandstanding about wanting to modernize and not be so stuck in the past, they're ironically unable to let go of the past. On principle, the act of tearing down their animated pantheon to build a new empire of live action dramatization is insincere; changing something for the modern audience that worked perfectly fine as it was is the equivalent of reinventing the wheel to make it a square or a triangle or what-have-you when it worked just fine for generations as a circle. There's good reason people call those timeless classics...well...timeless: they've aged like a fine wine whilst these remakes will age more like cheese...Vieux Boulogne cheese. XD

I do not get it as well, if there is anything that needs to happen to make a new Bambi, it is not to modernize it, but it is to take it back a notch. While I do love the movie, it is a different animal to what the book is, and it is getting closer to that I would rather see made and that is not likely what they have in mind.

One saving Grace is that at the rate Disneycorp is crashing into financial ruin, it proves more and more people are waking up to how absolutely crap their shows and films are, and are choosing not to watch them.
