I'm back, y'all! Another session of my maddening missives! ❤️
Last Sunday, I had needed some time to recover from a poorly done tabletop game on my part, which I still believe I could have handled better. While chatting with friends and having my best friend, FaeBlimpDrgn , checking up on me ... got to laugh right along with me about my Anime Collection being outdated and worthless since places like YouTube shows off most of the classic anime that I love for free. Now, I just googled the Wikipedia info about this show I'm about to talk about ... Dangioh ... which was a favorite of mine next to Bubblegum Crisis and Urusei Yatsura. Known as Hyper Combat Unit Dangioh or Giant Planet Destroyer Dangioh, depending on where you are looking, it was one of the many VHS tapes I had that got ruined thanks to a bad VCR, probably overused and thoroughly abused. The bad guy in this, the Bunker ... Captain Galimos ... had this little creature who I used for a character of mine for the tabletop gaming group's "Silver Age Sentinels!" called Catatonia, a supposedly mute gal who's voice could only sing ... and her voice could ensorcel others, guys and gals alike ... and the only way she can communicate her thoughts is through "The Imp", a small creature with bird-like feet and ran back and forth while perched on her shoulder, cackling, giggling, and being a typical character from anime ... annoying. Anyways, the Bionic Forearm told me after I played her for a while that if I ran that character again, he would not show up to the game. I get it, so I haven't since I promised. And yet ... I still love the character. ❤️
So, I got to watch on YouTube this first episode and all of this came back to me ... and, since my operation, I have felt like my poor brain's been damaged and there is so much I have forgotten, but as Doc's commented, you are getting older and the brain only holds so much. He promised me that according to the cat-scan of my brain, I'm good. Small comfort, I suppose, especially when there are times like with the previous journal earlier I have to question that statement. ❤️
A friend of order this for me because he heard me talking about it at the Firm and said that he would pick it up off of eBay and get it to me. Well, last night, he dropped it off and I got to check it out. Seems like on the wrapper, something that my friend missed, was a piece tag of $34.95. He told me when I called him to thank him after I settled down ... he knew I'd had a bad day ... he candidly said he's paid almost $45 for it. Now, while I appreciate what people do for me, why wouldn't the seller take the tag off? I pointed this out to my friend and he shrugged and said that he would e-mail the guy to ask about it. That was last night and probably will not be answered any time soon, but my friend is unconcerned. But I am. To me, there is something called "Integrity!" But, my friend missed it ... so he's willing to let it go. I should as well, but this is not the first time dealing with being screwed by an eBay seller.
Well, I'm going to break for breakfast. Mrs. M has paid for breakfast for the two of us, saying that she thinks we both need it. Gawd, yes! ❤️
BE Happy!
Love and Kisses,
Loonia

I was disappointed that Lt. M'Ress was not featured as a guest character in this episode, being the only Caitian on board and a gentlewoman cat-person as well, although I suspect that was because Christine Chapel- voiced by Majel Barrett, as was M'Ress- had a prominent role in the episode and it may not have been in the budget for Majel to provide two major Majel voice acting roles in the same production.
I've heard of the anime called Dangioh in the past but I've never watched an episode of it before, so your mention of it being available for a peek on Youtube led me to go look, and I found a Youtube channel with all sorts of full-length anime goodus, Dangioh included:

I learned that a while later, honey, though I was sort of thinking along the lines of Blackbolt from the Inhumans when I originally worked out the concept. From what I remember, I was inspired by the character I did back as a teenager called "Virgo" who was supposed to be a joke-of-a-character ... big tits and wide-load backside ... but the gang loved her, especially when she stepped up and save us from another jerk of a character named "Repulsor", who was so bad and distasteful that he was jokingly called "Repulsive." This was originally from 2nd edition of Villains and Vigilantes back in 2014 where this creep raped Israfel Vincent, which I was torn in doing the scenario, but one of my friends had been on a rant about women and sexual abuse ... he was against it like most people are, but he inspired me because I wanted people to hate him. The Crushers, the enemies of the Crusaders, had originally hired him to take out the heroes of the group, "The Titans!" I think since everyone was using rolled up characters. Cait and Israfel were fairly rolled up, but Cait was the powerhouse. It would be Hypatia Vincent, Israfel's mom, who was also a superherone from WWII since we were setting the stage for the late 1970s and through the 1980s, to be further inspired by the X-Men 92 Cartoon, who told the group and they were out for blood, especially Cait. But it would be the surprise of the game to hear the evil Mocker, leader of the Crushers, who swore that Repulsor was killed. Years ago, I ran with a group of teenagers who were treating V&V like "Superhero Dungeons and Dragons" ... so when the Crushers were captured, they felt he should be dissected or dismantled. My character, Hypatia, was against it, saying that even as a machine, he was a living being. And convinced the heroes to spare him. Mocker remembered.
Ooo! Nice shout-out to Filmation's classic cartoon and I have that on blu-ray. There's not too much I don't know about the show, but I will look up the wikipedia stuff as the day goes on.
Mm ... I remember that and I have to admit that I thought the same thing, but ... I think since Nichelle Nichols did the voice for Uhura and M'Ress (I think), they thought it might be too much. Remember, my thought on this is that they tried to do these cartoons back then quick and keep the appeal high to keep the TV companies paying them. Now, once again, I could be wrong, but we covered that back in the SCAD classes for animation.
Whoopse, I noticed that you mention Majel Barret and I realized too late that I'm wrong. But them not getting Nichelle Nicoles ... that's most curious. There's no telling to be honest, but something to cogitate.
I got a copy back when the store here in Savannah got it and I was still new to anime, but it was NOT dubbed and a very good episode. Now, later when they released it to DVD, the first episode was pretty much omitted because in the second one they did a rehash because of the length of how long it took for them to get the second one out there after the first was done.
Thanks for the link, but when it comes to the classic anime that I remember from the 1990s, I want the subtitled. Riding Bean was one Animego tried to get me to be part of, but they were only interested in pooling high school kids as I was candidly told by a friend at the company. Robert Woodhead was not wanting to invest too much money, which I get. The Bubblegum Crisis was so bad that I threw my VCR tape into the fire pit outside my trailer.
Filmation wasn't deliberately super-frugal with their reuse of animation cels, backgrounds and cut costs- including specific voice actors who were left out of TAS, specifically Walter Koenig's Ensign Pavel Chekov, hence Arex taking that position on the Enterprise bridge- but despite or because of that, they were known for being absurdly shrewd with their budget and production costs as often as they could be. They went on to make He-Man and the Masters of the Universe in the 1980s, and it's not hard to see a contextual and visual similarity between the animation in He-Man and Star Trek: The Animated Series from a decade prior.
2Paw understands entirely that dubbed anime is not your thing; I've heard enough really corny and caricatured voices in English-dubbed Anime, along with dubs that I really do rather like (I'm looking at the two Ghost in the Shell movies, the Hellsing TV series and Macross Plus for my part), oftentimes I like both the original Japanese audio and English dub and pick one or the other when I put in a DVD or BluRay or fire up a Matroska. Although it doesn't take away from the narrative for me, one of the biggest 'Whoops!' English dubbed anime fails is for BAOH, an anime that I really doubt could be made today without being shouted down, and if you're familiar with it I strongly suspect you know some of the reasons why.
I don't think I've ever seen the original Bubblegum Crisis or Crash! outside of the fansubbed Japanese versions, and I am very grateful you've cautioned me against approaching such awfulness, Squeakyfoot Tigress! <3

It's hard to look at things through the lens of how things are now and see what it was like back when. I remember keeping my sexuality a secret for hearing how many did NOT deal well with it. Me ... wanting to be a teacher meant that I had to put a lot of that aside, but, at the time, Kait and I were close and I was going to say, "So be it!" and be me ... but her passing in 1991 ended all of that. It is the way of things ...
Reading what you are saying about Star Trek's animated series does make me want to try a Saturday Classic Morning of watching that after getting some sleep, but we will see. I'm taking some downtime from the Tabletop Group ... if you have seen the journals, you know this week, especially Thursday was rough on me. But, it also reminds me of those you know ARE your friends, they will step in and help you when you have fallen. Trust me, all of my friends have done this over the years.
With that I'm going to close this comment for the moment, but keep on commenting., honey. I always look forward to your comments like Stephens that I get from time to time when he's able. Charming, alluring, and thoughtful both of you guys are. Thank you for being groovy guys!
If I may be so bold and beg your pardon, I think if I were Kait, I would be very happy to know you kept soldiering forth, being and becoming the excellent person you are, and who I have had the privilege of knowing as and calling a beloved friend over the last several years, and sharing our friendship therein.
The part of herself that Kait is enmeshed into you- for every strong, hearty relationship merits such a bond and bonding, not breakable by decession or distance- knows this, as in me a very particular person with whom I was extremely close in the time our lives overlapped, even more strongly in the final 12 years of their physical life, shares space within my heart. And I know they would want that, as Kait would to have her starlight-essence cradled in your person's core.

-2Paw,
Thanks, honey. I'm going to try and get some food here in a bit and probably head back to bed before I pass out again. Someone keeps on tilting the apartment.
I hope you've found some good sleep and restful resting by the time this post meets your viddy; for myself, I got a pawful of hours of good, solid sleep in- the last week or so, even if my sleep has been limited by RL time passed, it's been exceptionally restful- and woke up in the last hour or so.
Even had a small handful of cheddar cheese for breakfast after taking my meds, the first time I've enjoyed some lovely medium cheddar in nearly three weeks. It's definitely the sort of food I don't realize I've missed as much as I have until I've noted its absence in my diet.
As for your apartment, I suspect it will refrain from its silliness by the time you're roused to wake. Gravity, good rest and all that.

I'm glad your solution involved both getting a good night's sleep, and having a good night's sleep, and the results thereout. I was asleep for most of Tuesday as well as Monday after I took my meds.
Sometimes that's an aftershock of the sedatives built into my atypical antipsychotic dose but I thankfully had no nightmares, only some reasonably nondescript and stressless dreams, and when I finally woke up on both Monday and Tuesday evening my head and heart was in good shape.
I hope your own was likewise so, and you got enough of the sleep you needed in turn!

Also, you tend to make a lot more friends and build friendships with others if you're not a colossal borthole to them; rather that you are kind, for then kindness is becoming.

You and I need to sit down and break bread one evening, honey. The stories I could share about the changes from the 1970s to current, which probably just make you smile. Nevertheless, the fellowship alone would be worth men picking up the tab on that party. Just give me a long-distance ring, please! ❤️
