Hey everyone. Figured I'd give my take on the whole policy update since it pretty much targets the thing I've drawn most. Obviously I'm not super happy about this change. I don't tend to like rules that aren't quantifiable or that restrict people for no good reason and this feels a lot like both of those things. What qualifies as "child-like" is gonna vary from person to person, and existing rules here were already really inconsistently enforced. I just can't see what this rule actually accomplishes either. What is this for? Who is this protecting? You're delusional if you think stopping me from uploading smut of a purple weasel gremlin from a video game is doing anything to protect children. Is it because of some legal reason? Then maybe you should be transparent about it.
I'm not really planning to do anything in response to this. If, despite the backlash, this goes through, I expect this account to get banned or at least stripped of most of it's content. Since I'm not focusing as much on furry art these days I don't exactly care to juggle a shit ton of alternative sites hoping one of them catches on. My previous experiences with Pillowfort and Itaku never really went anywhere. I'm still active on Inkbunny of course, and all my stuff will end up on e621 and my Discord server as well. If I end up picking up any other sites they'll show up on my Carrd directory. https://perfectlynormal.carrd.co/
The lack of good sites to post to was certainly a factor in my decision to soft-retire from furry art. If this goes through it'll be my second time losing my primary account (the first being Tumblr). As you can imagine, losing the bulk of my audience isn't particularly motivating. Still, I was never in it for the numbers. If I lose this account I'm just gonna keep drawing other places.
To end on a positive note, I've been working on some art recently, so you can expect some new content from me in the near future. Take care!

One thing i saw you say that was a little odd that ive noticed a while was the tumbler thing. After that site died, and this may just be a conspiracy, do you think some of those admins that caused it to collapse sought new places that were active and came here? Its the M.O. of people like that after all. Find a thriving community, take that community over, run it into the ground by vague rules and a purge of what/who they dont like which makes the place go to shit then rinse - repeat ad infinitum. A part of me does wonder sometimes if i go look at admin logs of their IDs for places like tumbler, resetera or neogaf what i will find. Random thing, i ramble too much, soz.
Oh, right, and like i said in argonvile's post. "If the mods see this go fuck yourself you censorious hacks. Get real problems in your lives instead of ruining everyone elses by making some up."
It's never been and will never be consistent. It's just a way to predatorily pick and choose who to ban, always has been.
The only thing I see actually changing is that a bunch of people are leaving FA to go somewhere else
