Over here bitching about having bought art from an artist at the beginning of the month to help with her bills (you lot know who you are), cuz y'see.... i paid for over $1200 in art over the last like 6 or so months and i haven't received any updates to my commissions from her in like 3 months or so. And you guys have been waiting maybe 3 weeks or a month and ya'll just sit there bitching like a buncha hungry baby birds in the nest.
I'm not pointing fingers at her. She's not the problem, it's mostly a delay because some dumbass canceled and started a refund request/ money dispute (you also know who you are, ya petty bitch) and she all but blocked and banned her from commissioning again. that was delay #1, which i poured a ton of money into through paypal for art, and then a couple folks recently backed out (for the right reasons, understandable) (you two also know who you are!) but she had to allow new commissions to replace that money to pay her bills, and all these little fee-coverages are eating up time so the backlist grows.
so, while you complain about not having the quick art you recently paid for, i've been (mostly) quietly sitting here waiting and caring for me, and waiting and waiting, for months until she can get back on track, cause I have no room to bitch so how do you guys get to badger her for art, when I've patiently waited for mine far longer than YOU have?
Ya'll some petty mudderfuckers, ya know that? i think i paid roughly $1600-$2,000 usd for art, and i'm sitting here typing a complaint to anyone of you beanheads that dares send her a note asking to pay for 4+ hours of her time ahead of me, when the commission you are wanting her to do is a commission from last month or this month. that's fucking petty as shit, and i hope Karma dropkicks ya'll hard in the teeth for me when she gets you back. Cuz you're taking away from those people who are owed art from 6+ months ago. you greedy shits.
i'm only saying all this because i can't bitch at her, it isn't fair to her, nor is it her fault. there is a line/queue for a reason. go grow yourself some patience then pick it cook it and eat it, and put it to good use, okay? also if you leave me a comment to complain about this rant. just remember this:

Whenever I commission art, I always try to ask how long will be the wait time. 1 month? Sure! 2-3 months? Okay! As long as someone's clear with me, I can wait the given time and even a bit more.
However, it's also on the artist to communicate any bumps in the road with their customers - just like with any other service. It just shows you give a damn about people who pay your bills.
And asking "Hey, it's X months after ETA, do you have any updates?" is not entitlement.
Secondly there has been open communication between myself and said customers including works in progress along the way, as i try to do for everyone who is my client. I have indeed had some rough stuff going on beyond my control and i did indeed get falsely backcharged by someone (i do have receipts as well) even though i was providing wips, there was no deadline, and progress was steady on their works. they happened to dislike something i said in response to a rather inappropriate rant in my personal discord server and when i pointed out said faux pas, decided to backcharge and ghost me without so much as -asking- for a refund -w-; what my rather..angry client here is expressing is frustration toward the fact that there have been delays because of having to catch up after said person methodically backcharged every transaction they ever sent me including friends/fam payments through their bank that set me back for quite some time leaving me to scramble for utilities and rent due to the deficit. I am steadily working to get back on my feet and while i do respect my clients' right to vent when needed i do feel he went a bit hard on a situation that didnt warrant such a heavy reaction. I appreciate that he understands it's not entirely my fault but i also did point out that he was opening the door for criticism by posting publicly about the matter, so with that, i do agree it's on the artist to keep people updated. But it is pretty sleezy to try to wreck someone by backcharging even for finished commissions, gift transactions AND progressing work without so much as a discussion about the matter. there was a lot of context missing here so i hope you'll pardon the info drop~
I aint an artist , i cannot claim to understand that world i am just a customer who is actually very patient, once waited a year for an art cause of stuff. For me if you keep me updated its fine i know i aint the only customer and life is more then often a bitch.
The only time i see myself reaching artist while i wait is when i ask for a small change like a missing feature on the character that is present on ref sheet and even then i wait like a month before saying any word.
If i am disapointed more often then not i wont say a word , accept it and if its too much for me i just say thanks , pay my artist and just dont post the art anywhere.
