Not sure if this specifically is what they are talking about, but Dragoneer himself had created and posted some work that would have broken the new rules (A feral eevee that was fairly close to on model, meaning it was 'cutesy' and childlike) and when called out on it, deleted it.

There's a blatant sense of hypocrisy when the head admin has stuff up breaking his sites own rules, and has to be called out before he removes it. It gives more credit to the idea that the ruling is purposefully vague in order to allow personal bias to be involved in the decision making process rather then just being a catch all to cover their asses.

He might also be referring to the puritanical nature of this new change. Even characters blatantly above age can be rule breaking, and stuff that was sort of protected before (Pokemon and Digimon being form shifting creatures with no real way to tell their actual age)

That is, effectively, all that changed with the update. The rest of the rule was already in place prior to the change (Which was difficult to tell with how they worded it, since they claimed it was to deter the '1000 year old loli' trope, something already covered by the previous rule)

And as much as I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, part of me believes that they added the 'send in a trouble ticket to confirm if your stuff is fine!' bit just to get people to accidentally get their stuff checked and flagged by the admins.

yeaa the problem is FAs rule is a bit "vague" if you think about it. they should add some really "good samples" or use something like the "Smurfette Rule" (i explained it in my journal here: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10555575 ) to prevent that confuseation around the community.

What you wrote is very logical, but all mods are not created equal. That's kind of always been the issue. What one mod says is cool, the other might say it's not.

I think it’s more likely they’ll find a reason to exploit aspects of your characters to punish you for asking questions, than they are to actually find something wrong with your characters, if that makes you feel any better.

The good part -- and bad part -- is the vagueness. People who want to slip cub/loli art past censors often rely on shit like "oh, looks like a child, actually fully mature and 50,000 years old" and crap like this. So I understand why FA is doing this and relying on judgement calls.

My issue is that I don't trust FA's judgement and I don't think other people do, either. So it basically goes down to whatever mod you end up getting crosswise who will take down your stuff based on whether or not they like you that particular day, and someone else's literally loli-bait character is going to stay up because some mod or other doesn't think the obvious is obvious.

Problem is that what you're saying was already covered. They even mention in it that the "loli loophole" was already covered. They've simply broadened it to cover more things, because of what is called "mission creep".

They're hiding the goal of sanitization by pulling a "we're just trying to get rid of evil. you wouldn't wanna side with EVIL right?!" while they slowly creep in and remove more stuff.
If it keeps up, ten years from now, NSFW will basically be banned from the site because this rule on itself can expand to nearly everything related. All they'll need to do is shift it again with some wording such as "to help keep cub porn and child porn off the site, we've found the best route is to ensure that media intentionally intended for children need to be banned from sexual situations" and boom.

It still happens to sonic characters. Even though administration was forced to make it clear there was an exemption for most sonic characters. One i've seen it happen to usually is artists who make tails art.

So you should be worried. That "catch all" outright tells you "we're gonna be biased as fuck and you better hope none of us dislike your art".

I'd suggest twitter, or less so weasyl. Weasyl seems to be dead or just filled to the brim with really spammy crap, so not exactly showing themselves on a great foot.

I've been peeking in on some other places like Pillowfort and my old Weasyl profile. Will probably still post my commissions here unless some bullshittery happens but it's handy to keep an eye out for other places and use something like Postybirb to more easily post everywhere and others like Linktree or Caard to keep folks informed on where else you are.

I wish there was a place as centralized as FA. The only thing that has a similar base is(was?) Deviant Art. I believe "ecchi" (non-harcore/ non-nudity) styled art is allowed there, might be time to branch out. LOL

As annoying as these updates tend to be, I'm aware it's just growing pains. FA's pretty ancient in internet terms. It's one of the three art pillars of the net; Newgrounds, Deviant Art, Furaffinity.3
