the "new" rulez
[revised because i was a bit eyerolly about this, this morning]
maybe i'll lose followers for this, but honestly, i really think people need to chill a bit over the policy situation. I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT it will be as bad as people are making it out to be - yes the rules are nebulous, but I think it’s largely so that an argument can be made if they come across something fairly cut and dry - it seems unlikely to me that it will be used against “gray areas” (cute but adult mlp ponies, kobolds, etc). As it is, it’ll clear up some more of what I’d define as cut and dry situations, such as characters clearly designed to come across as children (baby form pokemon, the “loli vampire” trope, etc).

FA+

I think it’s kind of an improvement from furaffinity being a bit of a lawless wasteland in terms of minor porn content, but we’ll have to see.
Probably the greatest “loss” will be baby form pokemon content, but personally, I’ve always found that kind of borderline regardless.
While I disagree with a lot of what he has to say, RunawayDanish has a lengthy post into why he feels this rules update hurts many artists here while not actually accomplishing its given goal of protecting children. I largely mention it because I do agree with his point that this change is about disgust. It is entirely down to an individual's preferences for content and the change was made to remove content they didn't like regardless of any context.
FA has tried to clarify that context does matter and that this "isn't a species ban" but that doesn't hold up to scrutiny against what they are actually banning under the new rules.
Imo, the core issue isn't what they're trying to do, but how they're going about doing it. While this change isn't the end of the world, it does imply a slippery slope towards the reliability of the sight. If specific characters or artists are targeted because of new rules then it is not that far of a jump to put yourself in those artist's shoes and wounder what will happen if the next rule change comes for you next. Security is valuable in a community, and having people censored in a ham-fisted way spreads fear.
Personally I feel like they should have implemented a system of letting users filter tags that they are not interested in. I'm not a mod or programmer though, so what do I know?
