Yes Nintendo is going after ROM users and makers and their newest target is the devs who are making the software

Nintendo wants to be the best in doing Nintendo things. Even when that involves kicking the ladders from underneath people with bigger talent that they don't employ.

That and they don't want newer generation of gamer to experience the games that came out at the birth of home consoles.

Nintendo already has one leg in mobile and they seem to half ass their Switch customer base with the Switch 2.
The only thing that saves Nintendo from being crushed by Sony and Microsoft is that they managed to carve up their own unique niche market.
Nintendo is at its worse when they are on top and this culture predates Iwata.
Their strong arm and bully tactics that they employed to keep 3rd party developers in line during the NES and SNES era.
There was a reason why there was a literal exodus of game devs that left Nintendo for Sony back in the mid 90s.
It was only with Nintendo's at the time pres. Yamauchi nearly superhuman ability to think and adapt on the fly during this crisis
prevented Nintendo to become another Sega and Atari.
Sony back in the 90s was a far bigger threat to Nintendo than it is today and the fact that Nintendo survived the 90s
after all the screwing around and bad blood there was between former SNES devs was a miracle in of itself.

I personally stopped caring for Nintendo as a corporation after I learned the inside story of Project Hammer and Nintendo's Seattle based subsidiary studio.
It's literally how proposals and ideas of the games were sabotaged or ignored by Nintendo suits just by the mere fact that those who pitched them were NON Japanese. I mean why the fuck even employ NON-Japanese in the first place.
You can say that account was anecdotal and based on rumors but Nintendo's stance on fan projects, some even FREE sure lends credence to those rumors.
They give off the vibe that they view their global customers with contempt.

Nintendo was founded in the 19th century and some part of its mentality (especially regarding NON Japanese) seems to still be stuck in that era.

Nintendo is failing, they highly despise putting 3rd party games on the Switch. I mean come the fuck on Nintendo the NES, SNES, GC & fucking N64 all had a massive library of third party titles. Fuck I don't even consider the Switch a fucking HOME CONSOLE, its a glorified upscaled Gameboy
