I Might Make a Second Scalesona
What's Reptu up to this time?
Why? The main reason: my voice.
Whenever I speak while representing myself as Reptu, I speak in his cartoony dragon voice. I've done it on that YouTube video, also when I play in VRChat. However, I want to have the ability to speak as my normal talking voice. Admittedly, I don't have to speak in the cartoony dragon voice with Reptu; I could just use my normal voice coming out of his mouth. Despite that, I don't want to do that, because I sincerely love the voice I've made for him. It makes the character come to life, and it fits him so well. And last, the voice has made me more attached to my scalesona.
A reason why I would have a separate scalesona for my normal talking voice is that I'm thinking about doing YouTube videos in the future, not anytime soon, but as an option I've been considering. I tend to speak a whole lot more clearly and present ideas better in my normal voice.
I'm sure you're curious about this: what's my new scalesona going to be?
I'm 95% sure he'll be a dinosaur. And as for the dinosaur, one of these species:
- t-rex
- raptor
- pterodactyl
- plesiosaurus
On top of the voice dilemma, a second scalesona could help out with some other ones.
First, is the confusion with how I refer to Reptu as "he" or "me." The reason why I sometimes refer to Reptu as "he" is when I'm describing him in a fantastical story setting with my other OCs. Thus, this dinosaur scalesona won't be involved in any of that. I still might draw him with Reptu and my other OCs, but he's not going to have a whole different separate reality than me as a human behind a computer screen pretending to be him. Therefore, with this new dinosona, it will be clearer that you'll be talking about me, actual me not in a story, when you refer to this dinosaur.
Next, on a more philosophical note, this dinosaur will have a separate purpose as Reptu. With Reptu, his scalesona purpose is to give me an escape, where my main goal is to make him come to life as a character, to make him appear cartoony, silly, and not a part of this reality. However, with this new dinosona, his scalesona purpose is for me to be real, be truly myself, and present ideas. And it somewhat fits, because dragons are fantastical beasts while dinosaurs have once been on this planet. Still, I'll have fun with the idea of being a dinosaur, stomping around and what not. But, it won't be as much of a charade of making a fantastical character come to life, like Reptu. In the end, it would be nice to express myself as this dinosaur, without me having to worry as much about making him consistent with any sort of story or worldbuilding.
And last, I think it would be fun to make a second scalesona. He could possibly give me new attitude in my actual life.
Don't worry. Reptu's not going anywhere. He will always be my true scalesona. And I'm curious about what you think, if this will look like a positive, less confusing change, or not.
TLDR: I'll be making a separate dinosaur scalesona for my normal talking voice.

Oh, wait. Did I make it sound like I didn't identify myself as Reptu? I can see why it may come off as that. I'd like to know, because as I was writing the journal, it was hard to put into words my thoughts and reasons.
I still identify myself as Reptu, most definitely. He is me and represents me well in this anthropomorphic animal universe, and I express myself well through him.
The difference with Reptu and this new scalesona is that, with Reptu, I make a huge effort to make others believe that I am indeed a cartoon cyan talking dragon, with the voice and all. I really do like the idea of keeping this cool, magical illusion. The illusion gives me an escape, and it gives other furries (I hope) an escape as well. Also, I love it when other furries think I'm doing this illusion well, that I am a talking dragon. It's not to say Reptu is a faker verison of me (not that you ever said that; just trying to make a point). It's to say that he's going to work for a certain set of circumstances that will be different than this new scalesona.
Let me put it this way in terms of fursuits; I think it would help as an analogy. Reptu would be the fursuiter that shows no human skin, skips around all happily, and speaks in a cartoony voice. He puts a show on to make you believe he's a cartoon dragon existing in this universe and wouldn't break the magic at all. Reptu still is me, but me in the context of coming right out of a TV screen as a cartoon. But this new scalesona would be the fursuiter that shows human skin and speaks in a normal human voice, despite representing himself as a dinosaur. Just a more, plain, realistic version, not trying to pull off any sort of magic, but still not as lame as being just a human. There will be cases where this new scalesona will work better than Reptu, such as describing something more serious.
I don't know if that made sense. But, explaining the difference between Reptu and this new scalesona to you will help me explain it to others.
It's ok, anyway! It will be interesting to see your new dinosona, then, besides, there are lots of furries who have double or multiple sonas. X3
Hey, thanks! It's going to be an exciting project. And yeah, when you think of it, it's very true that lots of furries have mutliple sonas.
I like the idea <3
I absolutely can't wait to see what you come up with! :D
Yeah, we'll see what's going to happen!
Yes, that's a good point that you mentioned that you use your real-life voice for your fursona. There really is an advantage to that, so that makes me feel good about this scalesona I'll be coming up with.
But in all seriousness, I think it's a good idea that you wanna another persona to represent you more. You make it more personal.
Yes, exactly. Thank you. It would be a nice change to have a scalesona where I can express myself however I want without worrying about the details.
