A Historic Day for FurAffinity
What's Reptu up to this time?
As you know, on August 6th, 2024, Dragoneer, the owner of this site passed away.
I can't say that I've known him or interacted with him, but for his contributions to this site, I'd like to reflect on how my life has been impacted by time I've spent on here. Man, if only he could see my journal and the influx of others' to know the difference he's done. *sighs*
I really did join FurAffinity at the coming of this decade, the 2020's; it was part of my new year's resolution. Had my scalesona ready, just made right before the end of 2019 and didn't know what to expect.
And slowly, I was met with so much positivity. It was the first time I've ever really posted art online, so it was a wonderful start.
I got to share my dear OCs and discover a whole new world of anthropomorphic animal art that has blown out of the water any I've seen before. Never have I felt like I've belonged to any community, and it was this site where I've made the most out of being a furry.
Through FurAffinity, I've made some of my best online friends, and I've really come out of my shell: being open about sensitive topics like my autism and health problems. And then I've reached a level I never would have anticipated: coming out as a modular fur and connecting to that community!? It's all crazy and spectacular. I wouldn't have been able to do all of that without the encouragement of my friends, the open-mindedness of this community, and the work of Dragoneer to keep this site running.
In the end, it really hit me when I saw the infinity sign next to his name on his account. He's a fellow scalie, a dragon, like me. If anything, his passing has given motivation to make more furry art, because it's a reminder that there will be one day where I won't be able to do so.
Do rest well, Dragoneer. Sad to say life is so short, but it seems to me you did a lot. Thank you for the massive positive change in my life that you had a hand in. And may your life and contributions remain remembered.
