People are leaving, or preparing to leave, FA. But WHERE....
2 years ago
This time, unlike all the times of drama before, seems to be different. You've likely all seen the endless journals about "Where to find me" from artists, commissioners, fellow FA community members.
This journal isn't one of those. Yet.
There does not (yet) seem to be a consensus within the furry community (including but not limited to the community on FA) on what website will replace FA as the 'main hub'. To an extent, Twitter kind of already is that, but it also isn't, not in a way that fully depleted FA of its utility.
SO HERE'S WHAT WE ARE ASKING:
List all, ALL the sites you are aware of. Let's get a list of sites that you know of that could/might/maybe/should/will replace FurAffinity as the hub of activity.
(if you see someone already say a site, you don't need to repeat it. This isn't a popularity contest yet, just a simple list of all potential places the FA community might migrate to).

There's an old comparison table on wikifur, here: https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Compari.....urry_art_sites
But it is quite dated indeed. I doubt the FA feature list is that out of date though..
Furbitron has activity comparisons, but lacks a few sites.
Alongside the ones you've mentioned, I've seen:
Buzzly
Transfur
VCL
Inkblot
Unvale
Refsheet
Artconomy
Artfol
Artists N clients
Commissio
Ych.art
FurTrack
Derpibooru
FurryStation
HicceArs
But some of those are marketplace sites, and some of them are dead (RIP Transfur)
Oh yeah, and a few folks moving to Telegram, or moving to Discord (the latter is a shame, as it's basically closed off then)
(like a retrospective postybirb I guess)
Check out https://furarchiver.net/ and https://github.com/topics/furaffini.....sc&s=stars
I check out the scene on github semi regularly, as I run faexport.spangle.org.uk but yeah. Feeling a bit misplaced in building stuff to integrate with FA lately.
I wanted to build them a proper api, and wrote up proposal docs for them many many moons ago, but got no reply.
I think they don't actually want to do any actual improvements, or they're working on another stupid tiger team re-write of the whole thing. But I dunno.
Anything technological will come despite FA, not because of it. Use what you currently have access to; is it possible, such as using the FA archiver, to build a true migration tool for another site?
I've seen a flurry of activity for e621 dev too, but it's a different class of site really. I ponder whether they could add something more approximating an artist gallery interface (a bit better than a wiki page and a search) and take the market. But there's still lots of complication with using their model for that, and I don't think they want that to happen
But maybe worth revisiting that idea too.
I dunno, I just wanna build stuff that helps folks, and so I end up with all too many ideas and all too divided time and focus
There's several furry ones, many of them themed, but they all allow pretty much anything reasonable as long as you put a content notice on the posts. They also all interconnect, so it doesn't really matter much which one you pick, you can interact with everyone regardless. Some I know of that are run by (as far as I know) reasonable people are:
* meow.social (large, general furry)
* hyper.equipment (hyper)
* blimps.xyz (inflation, fat)
* gulp.cafe (vore)
* macrofurs.social (macro)
Most of them don't let you browse much without an account, so they might show up pretty blank on the surface.
It's an older site (though I'll admit it's not a likely contender), but it does accept furry art, though limited to Male characters only and it's submission upload system is well outdated and time-consuming.
Special note goes to the last type since a lot of them try to present themselves as the FA alternative, and more than not fail to live up to that mission due to trying to do the whole "like FA, but different" routine even when they're presenting better features overall.
DeviantArt ~ female centric, pro-AI
Behance ~ quality control, no nsfw
ArtStation ~ quality control, no nsfw, pro-AI
Pixiv ~ Japanese graphic censorship
Inkbunny ~ no sexualization of/with humans
Weasyl ~ running but not maintained
Sofurry ~ literature centric
Twitter ~ not a gallery, may end up closed off from European users, account recovery/password reset may not be functioning.
E621 ~ Archive only, quality control
VCL ~ archive only, running but not maintained
Itaku ~ fairly new
Transfur ~ Transformation centric
Pixiv - I absolutely don't trust this site. Every time I've used it my computer has slowed down for multiple hours.
Inkbunny - The UI is awful, and the search function kinda sucks. For example, I'll search tags for cock vore, and while it will give me what I want, it will also give me every post with the tag Cock, every post with the tag Vore, and every post that has those words in the title, regardless of tags. This happens no matter how I type cock vore (IE; cock vore, cockvore, or cock_vore)
E621 - Doesn't allow stories / literature on their own (As far as I know). There's a Story_in_description tag, but it requires a picture to be present, so for people like myself who aren't confident in their drawing skills, it's a bit of a challenge to move there, but is where I'm planning on heading regardless.
Cohost
Pillowfort
Checking on Pillowfort now, I'm somewhat suprised they are still have a waitlist if you aren't able to pay to create an account, though you are able share your page publicly once established.
Cohost seems to be another social media alternative that supports tagging, filters and content warnings, and with the addition of committing css crimes.
What's the plan with this list btw?
