I didn't see my first raven in flight until my mid-40s. Up until then, I'd often wondered whether the black birds I saw might be ravens. After having seen a raven, I'll never confuse the two again. Ravens are big and chonky, unmistakable in flight compared to a crow. All those previous might-be-a-raven sightings were most definitely crows.
