Honestly I'd just ignore e621 comments, maybe even use an ad blocker to hide them. The art doesn't even have to be particularly weird for them to become an absolute cesspool.

I guess fat people existing is also enough to get e621 users fuming. It isn't even fat in a fetishistic way, it's just a moderately chubby character.

Add "black people existing" to the list of things that can start a flamewar.

List of things that are too weird for e621, according to the comments: Uncircumcised penises, gynomorphs (150k posts on that tag btw), moderately overweight people, black people.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, any stupid comments you might get on your e621 posts aren't because your posts are too weird. They're mostly because e621's userbase is awful.

On top of that, most of your posts actually have reasonably positive comments. There is that one post where some very confused people were insisting that petrification must mean death because science or something (???), but the other comment sections seem pretty standard for this sort of niche content. Personally, I don't think your stuff is out of place on e621.
If you just can't do with the negative interactions regardless of the reason, then maybe ignore e621 and stick to FA; catbox.moe seems like a good site for permanent file hosting. Some of your work will probably end up on e621 either way, so you'll still get that extra reach.

The comment mentioned 2 solutions to my problem: either I stop caring too much about what people will think or how they will rate my artwork; or I stop posting content where I know negative reactions are certain to happen.

I put that bunch of disclaimers exactly because of that annoying science-death guy. I was alright with the status of my post, to be honest, I just wanted to avoid a second outrageous occourance like that.

Thank you though, you made me realize my situation isn't all that out of place. I'm also considering using another site like catbox or mega to host my files, especially for videos I don't feel comfortable posting on e6.

Glad to provide some perspective. I do understand what that commenter was trying to say, but he was implying that it's because of the weirdness of your art, and I just don't believe that's true. Specifically with the science guy, that didn't even have anything to do with the actual substance of the post and was entirely his imagination. He could just have easily gone onto an inflation image and confidently asserted that "acktually if you inflated that big you'd die (according to Furry Inflation Science) !!! this is disgusting !!!!"
In the end, it comes down to whether you're comfortable seeing people like that in the comments sometimes.

My personal opinion: I found you through e621, so I do think it's good to be present there if possible. For any given niche, FA has a lot more content but e621 makes it way easier to find new artists in that niche, thanks to the tagging.

Considering the actual reprehensible filth the comment sections can have no issue with, I'd advise against putting much stock in what they think of your work.

you don't need to worry about it being posted in the "wrong place" or being "too weird" you just get more people on your posts that aren't into what you make because what you post isn't a common blacklist for people who wouldn't what to see that

like I purposefully look for the worst stuff possible on furry sites and on e6 I saw a chick get flayed, like had her skin cut off, before a horse futa fucked her organs and on FA I found a guy who had a thing for "being body swapped with a quadruple amputee who then proceeds to rape you" so these people don't know what they are talking about

not to compare rape and flaying with what you do, just pointing out that these people are barking up the wrong tree with the whole "you're posting in the wrong places"

For what it's worth, I found your stuff via e621 and loved it, followed it to the source and watched for more that very minute haha.

I don't comment on e6, though, so I'm not really the kind of user you're probably talking about ^^;

Sadly there is always going to be haters. I had one on my old FA account, Furrificator. I was once told "is this some kind of weird fettish?" in one of my posts. At first I was annoyed but then I came to the realisation that there is nothing weird about being in line with my favourite kink just like everything and everyone else who does it. Just some random Troll outta nowhere felt it was right to try to put me down that day. But I soon picked myself up and carried on and just ignored him. Dont let these toxic people ruin your day because they have nothing constructive to say. If they dont like what they are seeing, why are they even wasting their time writting it? The same can be said for what sort of comments you have been receiving. Just Trolls looking for your attention and your reaction. Keep doing what you do Nick, its awesome content and I love it! You know who your real fans are. They will be the shining stars of your fanbase and try to keep you motivated to continue doing what you are doing. I for one will ALWAYS support you and I love talking to you in the Discord we are in when I can get the opportunity too. Now have yourself a wonderful day Nick!

Well I learned to ignore blatant trolls like that, but the comment in question wasn't necessarily negative, but... it "nocked me off-balance", so to speak. Regardless, thanks to you, and everyone else here, I'll keep doing what I like and what you guys like as well.
