Most notably Eric and Athena!
Eric is an espeon, born female identifies as male, while Athena is a glaceon born male and identifies as female (I can imagine her brother teasing her a bit but he’s still accepting of it, ei referring to her as his sis)

I even thought of the two dating and having a child before separating as they realized more about their sexuality, Eric preferring guys and Athena having confused feelings about girls

Oh thank you! I'm actually unsure for a lot of my OCs really, I think of them being one way but they end up acting a different way, so I just go with whatever feels natural for them xD
(Also fun fact, characters figuring themselves out, in turns of orientation and stuff, was actually an element to a series I thought up, if you're alright with me sharing it)

Exactly and same here, honestly I often describe my characters as gay because in my mind "gay = hot" X'D But a few of them, namely a couple big boys of mine, having them interact with female characters just feels more natural for them

Alrighty! (be warned, possible feels ahead, even I was surprised)
Well to start with the main characters are a pikachu, charmander, eevee, squirtle, split into two groups off on their own adventures, and with their own personal conflicts and developments

For example Charmander is gay and crushing hard on his best friend since childhood, but doesn't know how to tell him, worried it might make things awkward between them, especially since Pikachu is straight. Charmander is afraid he might ruin their friendship but the longer he holds off on this the more it hurts him because he can't just keep this bottled up inside...
I even imagined a scene where he tries to tell only for another character (the main antagonist of the series no less) reveals it before not only Pikachu but a crowd of other people as well, humiliating Charmander and making Pikachu uncomfortable, the latter to the point where he wants to be alone to process his feelings, with Charmander being left heartbroken and alone, blaming only himself for simply feeling the way he does... (poor guy)

Meanwhile Eevee is trans, born female and identifying as male, and since it's now canon that female eevee's have unique tail markings I imagine this is something that annoys him as people keep mistaking him for a girl, perhaps even trying to cover his tail with dirt or paint to look more masculine. I imagine that upon meeting the shy Squirtle he would help them come out of their shell (pun not intended) but behind his cheerful demeanor he's hiding a lot of inner conflict
I imagine this ultimately culminates in him performing on stage, not knowing what people will think of him (especially with the aforementioned antagonist causing him trouble right before he went on stage), but despite his doubts he managed to find his strength and give his all, the adoring crowd causing him to evolve...into a sylveon, and immediately becoming horrified by his new form. He looked like a girl, the audience was loving it, and that just made things worse for him... I can picture him running away crying with Squirtle going after him to try and comfort and reassure him, and while it does help it'll still take time for him to accept his new body, something he's shown struggling with later in the serious, and it's entirely possible he'll never fully be comfortable in his own skin


Honestly I never expected these stories to be so emotional, I imagined it being a "lighthearted"-slash-"kid-friendly" series but I ended up tackling some rather serious real life issues like learning to accept who and what you and such. In fact I like to think of Eevee's evolution into Sylveon being an analogy for puberty, like imagine a girl who identifies as a boy gaining breasts which effects how others see them and how they see themselves
I'm honestly amazed that I managed to come up with this... (and hope you enjoyed reading, was more than I thought it'd be^^; )

Gosh what a lovely bunch, I really love how much diversity in bodies and identity you have going on as an artist. It brings me great catharsis seeing, I feel you really highlight a sense of pride in one's own body that I see few other artists display. I also LOVE all the piercings Olive got!! I am a fan

A character in my story Journey of the Gnoll Queen was originally going to be trans or on their way to discover that they're trans due to gnoll society seeing magic as something only women could learn, but as I was writing the chapter where he had the spotlight and got in character I realized that while he had those thoughts he's not sure if that actually would make him happy since there's still the misogyny against men and he just wants to practice magic like the rest of his magical bloodline.
At least he got to talk about those feelings with someone who can shapeshift and technically identify as whoever she wants if she felt like it, a kitsune named Takara Ran.

I really should make pic of just him since he's a cute gnoll. And there's always an opportunity to make more trans characters later.

So, technically any member of Zed’s species (So Zed, her sister Zephyr, ALL of her kids) is intersex, they just culturally identify as female. Well, except for one of Zed’s kids, Flynn, he identifies as a guy, so I *guess* he’s technically transmasc? Alien species is weird.

On the simpler side, the transfemme folks I have include my bun Louise, her dragon gf Opal, Zed’s gym rival dragon friend Riza, my elk lady Vikky, my lemurbat Celine, and my gothy snep Nell.

On the NB/Genderfluid front, we have our spideersona, Stebby, our glaceon Kai, our little weebfen Ashe, our massive skunk Kyan, Celine’s kid Zavy, our gummisnek scientist Cassandra, and our kitsune Yuria.

Heck, compared to all them, I can count the number of cis characters we have on one hand-

See the beautiful thing about gender identity is that it is completely up to the individual how they identify and you have completely embraced that. I love how much variety there is to go around here
