Apologies for my brief disappearance

The truth is, I was working on an emergency commission to earn some cash to treat my sick dog, and I was about to finish it when...
He suddenly passed away on last Friday, 07/07/2023, on his little bed.
Since then I've been trying to pick my life back up. I loved him, he was my best friend and I still can't believe he's gone. When I look out the door,
I expect to see him walking around the corner like nothing happened, and look at me with his big bright brown eyes before walking over and pushing his snout under my arm.
But he never does.
I've cried enough to fill a river and dry my tears, but I'm still not at peace with his passing. At least, not just yet. I'm not ready, but I'm working my way there.
