I'm hearing about this Bluesky, Twitter-like thing quite often as of late. Everyone says that you need an invitation to join and that they are scarce and about getting on a wait list to join. Sounds like it's exclusive at the moment.
Well, yesterday while checking my Yahoo! email, don't laugh, I only use that email for insignificant stuff, communications to get website accounts ETC. It's like my disposable email address. Well, yesterday there was an email from Bluesky saying that I I was invited to join,
This is the exact email, very short and sweet from Bluesky. (below)
"Hi friend,
Thanks for your patience! We're excited for you to join the early conversation on the Bluesky app. Please follow the instructions below:
Download βBluesky Socialβ from the iOS or Play store
Enter in your invite code: bsky-social-*****-*****
See you soon!
The Bluesky Team"
The IOS and Play store are links. I was surely thinking that this was a malicious/spam/scam email, asking you to click on the links. I was about to delete the email, but I then had the idea to see if this Bluesky had a website and sure enough, I found it and it asked you if you wanted to join you had to get on a waitlist or if you had a code to enter it.
I did enter the code and holy crap, it worked! Now I'm asking myself, how? why? did I get this in the first place? I had promised myself NEVER to use Twit but I broke my promise and made a Twit account 2 weeks ago, so I'm on the "X" website under elon. Maybe getting the Twit got me invited? I honestly dunno π€·. Well, I also created this Bluesky thing yesterday with my Al Bear name. π» But seriously? Why did I get that code/invite thing totally out of the blue(sky) π at random? I never looked into this Bluesky, never had any contact with the site/app. It's just so friggin' weird. π€
And, nobody, just nobody knows about my secret Yahoo! throw away email address that I have used for 15+ years as my go-to disposable email address to join esoteric websites. that require a valid email address.
