I have at least no problem with that and I mean you wrote a story with it. I actually loved it because so I found you and a little story with it. But not sure if it against the rules or not.

I thank you for your response! I had a fairly long conversation on telegram where someone said that stories are meant to be stories first and foremost, and art is meant to be everything else, and that’s what I have been posting should just be “art” since that was the main draw. I’m legitimately unsure how founded these statements are… and am trying to make sure that I wasn’t breaking some unwritten (or written, I know sometimes guidelines are hard to follow) rule with the way I’ve been posting.

I personally think my writing is stronger than my art, which is why I post the way I do, but if that’s not the way I should be, I’m more than happy to correct it.

No Problem and it also depends on when you can count something as a story. Personally, I always find it very difficult. For my part, I think that a story doesn't always have to be that long and your Story with the Art together fits really well together. But yes, it would probably be best if you ask an FA mod because then you should be safe.

Anyone getting butthurt over FA tagging/organization is a bit silly. The entire system is a bit of a lost cause, and trying to nitpick someone over using one category over another is not only absurd in that it's borderline arbitrary what each category is defined as, but it's also a fool's errand in that it's the wild wild west out here.

If they want stuff actually indexed/organized in a consistent manner, they should go to e621 or something. Otherwise, they should take up their beef with FA admins/owners and have them define/enforce how things ought to be done, rather than complain about how a single poster's metadata doesn't match their personal preferences and ask them to match it.

Haha! I can see what they mean, I just wish they weren't so aggressive with their word choice. I feel like "ruining the search for everyone" was a bit of an overstatement, especially since this was the first it had been brought to my attention. The FA guidelines are just a bit hard for me to decipher sometimes. Saint_Ajax cleared up a good bit of it for me thankfully!

In the future I will probably just keep my stories and art more separate, and simply shorten the stories that accompany the art or collect them all into their own story post in the future. Time for me to see if I can re-label some posts!

I mean, technically, I think they should go under the art category, if the file type isn't something text related. There is this rule in the upload policy:

"1.2 Submission Detail
Keywords, Ratings, Categories, Themes, and Species are used to define images as they appear in Fur Affinity's search engine. Abuse of these (misleading, inaccurate, or false) is not allowed. This does not apply to the Gender section. Submission file type should correspond to submission type. Intentionally listing inaccurate keywords in the description is not allowed."

Honestly, that is pretty vague, I'd say you should open a trouble ticket and ask an admin for conformation. They might also have a way to do it on-mass. I think it's more for if someone is adding keywords like "dog" when the story only contains cats.

I don't really like it personally when someone puts images in the story category, because when I'm looking for something to read, I want text files and not images, but I never cared enough to make a stink about it. The second I realize something is an image, I just skip it, and move on.

Also, I bet it's hurting your discoverability. If someone has the search set for "art" then none of your images are going to show up. And if someone is looking for a story, but finds art, they'll probably skip it like I do.

This is all super helpful info! In the future I guess I'll try and keep the story bits shorter or post them in a separate post. I'll look into re-labeling the stuff I have already submitted.

I never realized that I was posting incorrectly until that other user brought it up. I just wish they had been a bit more "relaxed" or at least had better explanations when telling me. I am more than happy to own and correct my mistakes!
