If someone's got "invulnerability" powers then it might just knock them back.

Unless the beams do something specifically to silicon that they don't do to other elements. (Sand, concrete, bricks...)

Can't say I have any char with invulnerability, just various levels of vulnerability. Though when you see it happen to normal people, you start to think it's not really a resistance type thing.

Silicon, does it have a frequency that bothers it a lot specifically? Like microwaves heating up water?

perhaps energy passes through flesh differently that something like concrete

I imagine the lasers are more of a "force" than anything, like a push or a punch. Makes the destruction to buildings seem more believable and the "just falling over" when a person gets hit also make sense. Like different punch strengths based on targets hehe

Though referred to as lasers, we don't know their exact nature and could be some form of exotic particle beam, and as well they are the products of an advanced technology. Considering the example of the phasers from Star Trek with their variable settings and TatsuoDaichi's thoughts of them being as more of a force beam, my thoughts would be that they deliver a large amount of kinetic force and perhaps a disruptive effect that interacts differently with inorganic and living matter. So you can get the holes being blown into things and explosive impacts to buildings, while a living being will get knocked back and there's a sort of shock to the nervous system, so you might get the equivalent of some minor burns and it's painful but at worse you'll get knocked unconscious for a while with no real lasting damage from the shot itself.
