Thank what? Mastodon was already there, has a lot more features, has hundreds of times the amount of users, isn't controlled by ai- and crypto-bros, and most importantly anyone can look at posts without having to wait for an invite :p
Imagine lots of smaller Twitters that can communicate with each other, handled by communities that care about their social space, a social space that by its decentralised nature cannot be bought or controlled by a whiny billionaire like it happened with Twitter :)
