Thanks. I haven't been paying attention to the Hugos since the whole stupid Sad Puppies/Rabid Puppies nonsense that roiled the Spokane World Con back in 2015. Again, the best of luck to you. At least you haven't been nominated for a Black Hole Award... yet.

Wasn't the Sad Puppies a group nominating things for categories that were empty and were told by the Hugos that certain demographics weren't welcome, so their nominees weren't allowed?

No, the Sad Puppies were protesting Hugos being handed out for race and gender instead of excellent writing or artwork or other creativity in the science fiction field. They had a good point, but then the Rabid Puppies came crashing in and turned the whole thing into contrarian racist bullshit, so the real reason for the protest was lost in a muck of ill-will, lame-brain diversity, and political stupidity. The controvery did settle down but hasn't entirely gone away.

I never heard of Rabid Puppies before today, so my awareness must have been at the start of the protest when it was about politics over quality.
