https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/.....internet-users I hope something can be done to stop this. It's already bad enough that the US has been trying to do this crap. Bills like this WON'T things safer it puts everyone at risk.
Telling companies not to collect data on people would be a damn good start. Not allowing children access to the net without a parant or some other guidence until they're of age would also be a better approach than this shit they're pulling.
Hope this bill gets tossed out, but if I recall this isn't the same thing as the US where freedom so far is still alive.
I'm wishing you folks in the UK the best.

But hearing what you have to say does intrigue me.
Does this mean that we are all still safe to express ourselves artistically and not have to worry about a Government trying to interfere with those who are not in their country? or has everything just remained unchanged and this bill was just pointless and toothless regardless?
also does this affect discord at all?
I don't agree with these bills passing, but its good to know its not that worrisome.

Now if this was put in place, we'd all be more screwed than usual. But the content we were worried about not being allowed will still be allowed.
Mind you I still have my reasons to to want this sense if it does affect the US, which I hope it does not.
That said it does suck for people i'm the UK.
Honestly there's a joke about the evolutionary war joke in there but I don't think I can execute one well right now.
Never the less, this is NOT a bill I think should've been considered in the first place. In fact I think the bets solution is for sites to have features that allows them to filter out the content from there end.
I.E. They could filter out the content for themselves but said content would still be viewable to another.
Because of ulterior motives I have no reason to assume these politicians are just flawed human beings trying to do their best, they're tyrants who're mad they're not monarchs.
Same with the people here in the US, If they can't do the job without compromising my rights? they deserve to keep it, PERIOD, could always move toa country that's actually willing to tolerate their bullshit.
you go poking your nose in the wrong place and it can get you in serious dutch.
i remember accessing it on a library system once and seeing the rows and rows of forums for hiring everything from a drug mule to a hit man. @.@
that is fucked up.

I still have a printed screenshot of the forum list i keep handy in case everyone thinks the internet is all sweetness and light. My mom once asked me about the dark web because she really didnt understand it, so i went into this whole speech about the former "Silk road" and the stories about people getting killed for finding out too much info, turning evidence over, becoming federal agents and whistleblowers and now my mom wont come anywhere near the internet. :D
she posts once or twice on facebook, and sends emails once or twice and thats it. i havent the heart to tell her about the numerous email scams threatening to do everything from steal you blind to hijacking your computer for a porn video. :D
and the Feds seriously think they can fucking control ANY OF THIS......
pardon me while i roll over laughing hysterically until the men in the white truck with butterfly nets approach my door. :D
i miss the good old days when we didnt have an internet.
Andy Warhol was sure right... in the future, EVERYONE is gonna have their 15 minutes of fame.
I do hope that shit gets challenged in court, but then again this IS the UK so...
every so often the internet becomes dangerously close to being policed then smarter heads prevail because they realize the internet CANT be policed.... :D
then life goes back to normal.
theyre smart.
it's already passed.
Maybe this is why they shouldnt spawn.
otherwise we will be even more vulnerable online than ever before
If only the crusty old control freaks had made way for younger politicians to get in we may have lived in a fairer and more equal society, but instead we have these pearl-clutching old codgers that have to cling onto control of everything for their own egos right up to the brink of the death of civilisation.
