On the the topic of being on the spectrum
2 years ago
We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for the following announcement...
Most of, if not all of us grew up reading comics, whether before the internet became a thing or after. We all have our favorite comics online or offline. However there is one comic in particular, in fact one character in that comic that today, hits pretty much every button that they are somewhere on the spectrum. That is Calvin from 'Calvin and Hobbs' and the artist Bill Waterson. Calvin and Hobbs is that one comic that resonates with every generation no matter how old or young you are. Calvin does have ADHD, ADD and is also Autistic and Neurotypical, he is both an introvert and extrovert. There are signs that indicate that Calvin is somewhere on the spectrum:
* Short attention span.
* Hyper focus/fixation on things that he likes (Suzie Derkins for example).
* Overactive imagination.
* Aversion to certain foods/tastes/textures.
* Excessive energy.
There are more that I am unable to articulate, but feel free to add in comments.
This is worthy of discussion, have at it. Let me know if you agree/disagree and why.
