Twitter is just an awful place for art. It has no galleries, and is a bad place to support, especially since Elon took over.

As an artist, he has made using twitter much more inconvenient. If you are at all familiar with the third party app "postybirb", a lot of artists use it to post to multiple sites at once through one UI, instead of having to manually post, tag, write descriptions for posts on every site individually. Twitter has recently blocked API access unless you pay them, which has affected this tool. And as sik said, it's just awful in terms of a gallery for art - bluesky isn't much better in that regard though unfortunately.

Among other things, the website has been less stable since he bought it. Advertisers have been fleeing the site in droves due to his controversial tweets, and questionable buisiness decisions. I mean just recently he was proposing having to be subscribed to the site to access it at all - paywalling access to the site entirely.

It is true that Twitter is no longer as stable as before, now it is slower loading profiles.
Now I have reasons to hate Elon :1 *insert thumbs up emoji*

Musk has made it increasingly difficult for anyone who isn't signed up there to see postings, reducing the potential audience for artists. He has also fired half of Twitter's staff, so the people whose job it was to monitor for and control harassment, bullying, and hate speech are spread much thinner. It often seems that they're doing almost nothing at all. He's also let right wing bigots that were previously banned back on the site, and he's been leaning more and more that way himself. He's also been spreading ridiculous conspiracy theories and misinformation that Twitter is now becoming a hub for.

This is all on top of Twitter's inherent surveillace capitalism model, which has always been a problem that was built into the site from the beginning.

Personally, I never wanted to be on there. It has it's uses, but too many downsides for me, especially post Musk.

I’d be very appreciative of an invite code! It seems like bsky is getting some momentum and maybe will reach a critical mass soon — having your S-tier art on there is a big sell 🤭

What kinda features they missing for now?

mostly quality of life stuff that's mildly annoying, like hovering the cursor over someone's icon doesn't pop up a preview of the profile, so you have to click and go to everyone's page to see who they are. and you can't drag an image into the new post spot, you have to manually open it. things like that... and they don't support gifs or videos yet
