Back in June someone had poisined Pauli, our dog. It was a slow poison that destroyed his kidneys. Therefore there is no way to be sure who did it, where or when exactly is also impossible to say. We did what we could. He was a little over 6 years old.
Today he had to be put down, at best he would have had a few more days.
I wish the person who did this to a poor animal may find justice. Pauli was a good dog.

I definitely have to agree with what someone else said that the kind of person who would do this is only a small step away from killing a person. Unfortunately the law feels differently. I researched this once and learned that it's almost impossible to get somebody convicted for this crime and even if you do the punishment is basically nothing.
(No, I didn't have someone poison my dog, I looked it up because I was curious)
The best advice I ever saw for dealing with this is that if you ever figure out who poisoned your dog (and this applies to anyone reading, not just you, for anyone whose pet was intentionally harmed or killed by some sick fuck), make a burner account on one of those websites that's populated in large part by stalkers and harassers, like 4chan or Kiwi farms, and post as much personal information as you can about this person along with what they did to your pet. Ask for help and say there's nothing you can do.
Why? Because even those largely morally reprehensible people hate animal abusers and there's a good chance that they will set their sights on fucking up the poisoner's life however they can. And as a bonus, if they do anything illegal in the process, they're breaking the law rather than you. As opposed to you going over to the person yourself and shooting them in the face, which would be treated like any other murder. (Though for what it's worth, if I wrote the laws, that would be a totally acceptable response. In fact I'd say it's still not as bad because you're killing the guilty. A more morally equivalent act to what they did to your pet would be torturing one of their pets or children to deal while they got to watch. Putting a bullet into their skull quick and easy is better than they deserve.)
Yeah, it isn't the best advice, but compared to the alternative of nothing happening it's worth a try. Though again you're not sure who did it. But maybe more evidence will come to light. And even if it doesn't, maybe someone else will read this and be able to make use of it in the future.
Unfortunately, I live in an area with a commercial district and an olympia base camp nearby, so there are constantly lots of people working, commuting or otherwise travelling. And since we also can not pin point the time and place where he took the poison in, everyone would be at a loss there.
Whoever did this is unforgivable
Whoever did this can never take away the good memories you had with your pet. Hold that close to your heart, and never forget how you and your family enriched Pauli's life and vice versa.
I lost a loved cat a while ago, she may have died of natural causes, but she struggled and I tried my best to be with her before we took her to the vet and was subsequently and sadly put down... but she won't be forgotten in my memories. I know the pain of loss very well...
But i haven't felt the pain of premeditated murder on one of my beloved... and it disgusts me to think about it... Pauli will be avenged once justice is served, I assure you that. He was a martyr, and we'll rally around his and your's causes! An eternal bond, your bond with your pet, shall never be broken in your memories and legends!
Pauli won't be forgotten! Trias won't be forgotten! We'll rally to your cause and fight for you!!
