Soooo where do i start with this
I've had a pirate version of Rai for a very long time now; only using it seldomly - for most of this year, i've been trying to push a pirate setting for my characters, as an alternate one for the established setting i have for them all already. Pretty much all of my characters would be significantly different and such, have different roles, etc... i only had some loose ideas in mind for it story-wise, but kinda had set ideas for a lot of my characters that i wanted to push.
When i first came to FA and started getting art; most times i made a character it was because i wanted to see more of a specific pred in vore art. Character backgrounds weren't much of a thought, but over time i gave them a theme and since then, that's how i've made and developed characters of mine, and given them lore and such. Pokemon just happened to be said preds - zoroark vore was extremely uncommon at the time, and the majority of what was around simply wasn't good. There was plenty of lucario around, but good art of female carios as pred were extremely rare as well. There was -zero- fem megacario for example, etc.
Where i'd see a gap, i'd end up making a character if it was a pokemon i liked well enough. Basically just try and push the sort of content i wanna see. Despite this, i always had it in mind to make non-pokemon versions of them as well, so i could fully call them my own.
Well, about two months ago, i had a flood of worldbuilding ideas come to me all at once over the course of several days. It was pretty much like a faucet lol; very, very old ideas that i'd had in mind at different points for things, even dating back before i was on FA at all - the primary one of which was a game idea(that came from a very strange place tbh) i'd had in mind for a good long while; that amusingly enough, fit in real well with what i was wanting to accomplish with the new pirate setting i'd been trying to start up. Music that i'd made in college came to mind. The basis i'd centered my very first characters around came to mind. All of my current setting and it's worldbuilding, and all story elements and ideas i've had in mind somehow all combined at once for me.
I ended up making a big google doc and have been compiling everything together for it there; currently i'm actually needing to update it again, but it's 15 pages long filled with stuff i've got in mind. I have a prologue fully put together. I've got the setting, and the world it's set in. I don't have a world map, but i have several locations and some cities which i've also sketched out, albeit loosely.
I've got multiple story elements and character backgrounds, etc etc.... there's a lot involved with it, and a lot i'd like to do. Ultimately, i'd like to create an actual game out of this, though obviously that is far, far easier said than done. I have only beginner's experience in coding and modeling and such, so it's almost assuredly a thing i could never accomplish on my own. Failing that, a comic of some kind is another possibility. Either way, even if i could make neither - i'd like to get the structure together for either one, and make an actual proper story out of it.
As a result of this, i'm de-pokying my entire roster to help hopefully build this into something. I still very much enjoy my pokemon characters so they will not be shelved, but what i've built up with them will likely no longer be a focus for me. That said, there's going to be clear influence in their character designs, as you'll see with a couple of character refs i'm about to post.
"Flicor" is the name of the new setting - as cheesy as it sounds, both the game idea and the name here came to me in a very old dream i'd had. Flicor, after a bit of research, is likely derived from an old english word meaning "to move one's wings, flap, flutter, or fly". Flight is a central theme to the setting; the world is full of floating islands, and people travel in ships both on sea and in the sky; basically think of airships in stuff like final fantasy. If you've ever played Skies of Arcadia, a huge basis for the setting comes from there. Piracy is rampant, and sky pirates are a common thing - the pirate setting i was trying to make before plays into this heavily.
All of my zoroarks are going to be a new race, sharing a similar name to the setting. Ceres, Rai, and my lesser known zoroark Sarraja will be the main characters of the story; they serve as a trio. The majority of the story would be from Ceres' point of view, however. Though it'd hop between them a good bit. Sarraja's no longer evil like his zoroark version.
So far, i've got both Rai and Ceres' refs done.
I've got set ideas for Sarraja's
Kris, my ninetales (Still a kitsune, though Wanda from one piece comes to mind for some strong reference. She's no longer evil, but there's a bit of complication there that gets revealed through story)
Corona, my zeraora (Feline, some iberian lynx qualities in mind. She's meant to be a very important character, and come across as strongly as she can as being a deity of some kind, without actually being one. Gonna be a pretty difficult character to design, probably)
Sabah, mega lucario (Canine, jackal-based. She'd be a witch doctor, and an early friend of Ceres)
Sarya, lycanroc (she'll be a proper werewolf of some sort, and be much larger. Acts as a recurring antagonist-type character. the only character that vorish stuff is a very obvious influence for; she's considered to be something like the boogeyman and is rarely seen by people. Goes around and eats others, preferring those of races that are uncommon or otherwise hard to find. For lore reasons, the trio are a huge target because of this)
and i've also got some loose ideas for my luxray Dawn, suicune Cade, and blaziken, Bess.
I'll have to create an awful lot of entirely new characters as well, though those will come a good bit later. I'd share some of the locations and such, but i'll wait to get some good pics done for those before i share them. Currently they're just very, very rough sketches, and i need to do a lot of work on drawing backgrounds and landscapes, lol.
Just wanted to share a bit on it, as i'll be starting to steadily post stuff relating to it :o

But yeah that's not why i'm doing this; going this direction just makes the most sense to me
well i appreciate you for following me all this time
i've always loved pirate rai and always loved the pirate setting of him, especially the picture together.
So, if rai was de-pokefied, what will he be? a black fox with red hair? Or did you have something else in mind? Or do you mean you're going to shelve your 'sona/Rai?
Honestly would love to visit Flicor, if you thought i'd fit in there.
Look forward to seeing your new characters you create, maybe meet a few.
This new setting is really just the pirate one i've always had in mind, but actually fleshed out
