D.D is taking over Ayame's spot as the femsona!
No, it's not recency bias or anything like that. I've always felt like Ayame didn't quite gel with the rest of the gang. My design chops weren't where they are now. Part of it is her dark backstory since the 'BadRoy' universe has since settled into a comfy, slice-of-life vibe. Hers was a story I was really into at the time and I probably jumped her into the 'sona spot prematurely. If I could do it over again I would have made Ayame more tied in with the rest of the gang tone and background wise. Or made like an Ayame-verse. I could just retcon her, but I also like the development she's had up to now.
It's the designs too though. For some reason I'm rarely happy with how I draw Ayame. I've redesigned her twice and it just never clicks for some reason. It took a while for her to click with fans too, it seems, but D.D has had a much warmer reception. When it comes to how I want to represent myself Roy and D.D make a more approachable, fun pair I think.
Ayame and Momo aren't going anywhere though, I still love them. This is just for personal/ presentation purposes.

I'm all in favor of folks experimenting with their identity. If you have something that better fits you, run with it!
I like Ayame and her story, but I have noticed she seems a bit different from the rest of the cast. I can't speak for anyone else but for me at least I really think it's the design of her face that sets her apart. The lips, almost invisible nose, and color patterns give her a very human, almost "uncanny valley" type of look compared to the more traditional anthro appearances of everyone else.

Oh and just to clarify I'm not saying I don't like her design. I actually find all of your main cast to be very visually interesting characters.
