Life is good!

Skoryx walks up to the stage, with a bit of a slouch and the notecards in his hoof-hands warm from overhandling and peppered with nervous pinch-marks. He sets his lime green water bottle, adorned with stickers and bells, onto the podium. He clears his throat, adjusts his glasses, brushes aside his hair, and positions the notecards in front of his snout with both hands. Skoryx's voice, which you have heard only rarely, is slightly high in pitch, clear and lively, and has the slightest hint of a southern drawl. He begins to speak, with his pace and anxiety steadily rising and slowing, like one of those pre-programmed "rolling hills" programs on cardio machines.
Sometimes when I go hiking/birdwatching and stand still for a moment to take everything in, I think to myself, "Life is amazing"! I am grateful to have ears to hear birds sing and eyes to see them live their lives. Oh, to be a bird, bug, or big tree billowing in the breeze...
It's gotten quite cold, so I haven't been outside as much. I wanted to share that I started a new job about a month ago after getting laid off from my last one. I will never work in a medical laboratory or any medical-related job ever again. Medicine and healthcare are just dismal in every possible way. Anyway, this new job is incredible! I am a chemist at a chemical manufacturing plant. It's not my dream job, since I'd much rather be a biologist than a chemist, but it pays very well and the schedule is nice. I work four days and then have four days off. I pretty much only have to work half the year! The work is also not terribly difficult and I have a lot of downtime.
Recently, I bought an iPad to bring to work to draw and doodle while I'm waiting for things to do at work. I'm very happy and I'm excited to get some more drawing practice in. On the iPad, it is a bit harder to do concise linework compared to doing it on my computer, so I have been producing drawings in a looser, sketchier style. I've decided to feature this as a commission option, which I have not offered before. I have also been trying to get back into doing traditional art after my experience in the artist alley at TTFC. I had some bootleg Copics from Sam's Club and the wrong type of paper. My fellow artist alley companions showed me the magical world of good traditional art supplies (Copics, Ohuhus, and cardstock) and it's so much better than what I was using before. Copic markers are expensive... but nice! I have a decent collection of Copics and Ohuhus now. I want to do more traditional art and am now offering traditional drawings as a commission option, which again, I have not offered before. Both my traditional art options and digital sketch options will be cheaper than my normal options because I'm out of practice (and want to get more practice)! In addition to changing my prices, I've also added more options and new examples on my website. https://skoryx.carrd.co/#
I have also revised my will draw/won't draw list. I'm an adult! You probably are too! I'm now accepting prompts that may be mature/adult/NSFW. I don't draw NSFW very often. The reason, for the most part, is that I identify as asexual and don't find much enjoyment in erotic artwork. Because I have interests in taxidermy, biology, and laboratory science, I think any of my interests classified as mature are because they are morbid instead of erotic. Anyway, I'm open to drawing a variety of topics I was not open to drawing before. Some things are still off-limits but those are disclosed on my website under my TOS section. My website is still under construction but I'm hoping it'll be polished by the start of the new year.
I've got so much to do to prepare for next year! In February, I will be in the artist alley at AnthroExpo 2024. If you are going, please stop by and say hello! It'll be my second time ever tabling. My birthday will be happening during the convention (February 2nd). I'm not sure how I'll celebrate but I know it's going to be fun. I am open to art trades, and any artwork of my sona, Skoryx, would be thoroughly appreciated. Speaking of, I have been commissioning a lot of amazing artists recently! Check out my Toyhouse to see some recent pieces I've gotten of him. https://toyhou.se/992067.skoryx
I visited an exotic pet store a few days ago and saw tailless whip scorpions for sale. I've always wanted a pet tarantula but my boyfriend will not let me keep one in our apartment out of his fear of crawly things. However, he is a bit less scared of the idea of me having a tailless whip scorpion (even though some people argue they are scarier), so I may be getting a new pet soon. I'll have to do my research but I think I could take good care of such a creature, and it would be lovely having an exotic invertebrate pet. I'm trying to think of names but all the ones I'm coming up with are silly. I'm thinking of "Cool Whip", "Whip Khalifa" or "Whip-poor-will"... Perhaps one of you could suggest a name for my future pet!
I'm happy that I have made so much progress these last few months, getting a new job and enjoying my hobbies again. I was in a very dark place last year for a while. I was so depressed that I would spend all day in bed and didn't have any energy to get up. Sometimes I felt like I lacked the energy to even talk. If you are in a dark place too, know that things will get better one day. I am rooting for you! Don't forget to go outside, even though it might be cold, to admire nature and life going on around you, on a scale many times smaller than your own. Life is good! I hope you can enjoy it. Feel free to share anything interesting you might've seen/experienced out in nature recently.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! I'll likely make another update whenever my commissions reopen. =:) <3

Congratulations on landing on your feet/hooves following the departure from the previous job!
Your approach to drawing and promoting you works is also inspiringly proactive and enthusiastic!
Hope you will negotiate the addition of that creepy crawly to you family smoothly.
Your proposed names are all excellent, and if I may, here is a list of my suggestions:
Whippet
Whipster
Whypton
Whippodrome
Whippopotamus
Whippy Goldberg
Whipper Snapper
Ba-Whip-Granna-Whip-Ninny-Bong
Where-There's-A-Whip-There's-A-Way
and

Happy holidays, have good convention trip, and a happy upcoming con-birthday!
Now please name your scorpion Whiply >:)
Whiply is a cute name. I guess I'll have to see what my whip scorpion's personality is like when I get it before I name it!
