Commission Plans for 2024
Short: I'm taking a break from purchasing commissions and artwork for myself in 2024. This isn't me abandoning the account or retiring any of my characters, far from it. I have had some unexpected financial burdens near the end of 2023 and I expect to have more in 2024. If you see new commissioned artwork in my gallery before 2025, then I have turned things around. Of course I'll still be entering raffles so fingers crossed.
Long: In late 2023 my computer exploded, and that is no exaggeration. It made an audible bang. Every component except the case, fans and hard drives were destroyed. Turns out I had bought a poor quality power supply when I built the computer in 2018 and this is likely the cause of failure. I wasn't a furry back then, and entering this community has granted me access to people who know how technology works. I'd like to extend a special thanks to
CollieBoy and
GodLuna for helping me source the parts for my new computer. I have RTX now and it's neat, though I thought it was broken when I turned on my computer and my desktop wallpaper didn't look any different. I'm not exactly a tech guy haha. Though this little segment had a good end, it was Jenny Craig for my wallet.
If you watch my gallery enough, you may have figured out that I'm a bit of a car guy. As a hobby, working on cars is generally something that I keep above the furry stuff. This is mostly because it's an area I'm competent in and can make something with. Furry art is something I buy, not something I make. I mean hell I failed art class in kindergarten. 2023 was a slower year for me in this regard, but I've gotten a good bit out of it. My Mustang is running well, I've sorted out a lot of major issues and I've been enjoying just having it be a good working car. I still would like to do a few things, like I want to get the steering to a rack and pinion because the steering box that was okay 10 years ago is now a little less than okay. I mean hey it's held up well considering the condition of the roads here. I've a bunch of parts sitting in that I'm itching to get in, especially for the NX. I'm really close to getting the suspension sorted, though the SR20 I'm putting in still needs a rebuild. That'll be a fun job, definitely tossing in a mild cam and getting the heads ported. As for my daily driver, she needed some attention this year. Alternator and brakes were done, new belts and some wiring work. I plan to rebuild the suspension sometime soon, new bushings and sway bar end links. That said, more urgent things came up this year. My lawn tractor, with an engine that held on strong since 1972, finally gave up the ghost, so I hot rodded it haha. These new ones, man they don't make 'em like they used to. Oh and the motor on the roto-tiller did the same, that's an even older motor though I don't have an exact year. Both those motors were so old I couldn't find replacement parts to do a rebuild, else I would have.
2023 was a good year, if a bit pricey, hence the pause on commissioning artists. I'll be back, y'hear, with all the dumb references and characters you're used to.
