Final Fantasy VII, the world building. Still gonna tell you happy birthday!

Funny thing the only reason I havent played it yet is because I had a friend sit me down and try to force me to play through it and didnt wanna do anything else the whole weekend

Is the remake better or worse in the worldbuilding / story / pacing / gameplay; and are its faults outweighed by its virtues?

The remake is a bit different in that it's intended to cover the entire story over three separate games which let you carry over progress. It sorta fits the motif of the original game taking place on three disks. Plus it seems like they aren't making the original fully irrelevant but I can't really elaborate out for spoiler reasons. They also made the extra games like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus relevant. Your best bet would probably be to just grab the regular version of FFVII off steam on a sale then judging on how much it interests you then you could grab Crisis Core off Steam and the remake.

The second remake game comes out for PS5 at the end of February and is probably gonna be a good while till it hits steam.

I enjoyed the remake personally with all the little nods and details. Just the shear fact that I was seeing Midgar and the world in full high detail 3d was enjoyable to me. The did good adapting the active turn based combat into a more action based format. I enjoyed it enough to get it on PS4 and then when it hit Steam get it a second time, though the steam version came with some exclusive content that only came out on the PS5 and Steam that I couldn't get on PS4. Easier method to play that.

Pizza tower, if you like fast paced platformer type games. The best part of the game is definitely the soundtrack.

Skyrim. I'm STILL PLAYING IT and challenging myself to be anything but a stealth archer.

My recommendation is to come up with a character theme to play first!

for example, a disgruntled Rowan Atkinson who accidentally poisons everyone he meets, and bumbles into strange circumstances

Gonna get judged............ but I really loved Far Cry 2. Not sure it is "favourite ever" since I have several all in that sense of "love equally", but I feel it was madly underappreciated

Total War (any of them), I love strategy games and that series is by far my favorite.

Well, if you want to try, I suggest Rome 2 or Warhammer, when they're on sale. They get pretty cheap, and if you still don,t like it, you should be able to get a refund before the two hours are passed.

PREY from Arkane studios, it just feels like one of the best immersive sims, so many ways to go about things, and the game-world makes sense and feels reactive!

Happy bday! Warframe, it’s just super fun, free and my brain likes it. The lore is super cool and gameplay / movement is fast.

Super Metroid

The sense of isolation and mysteriousness at the beginning! And all the exploration.

My favorite game is Megaman Battle Network 3 (Blue). Second game I owned, after The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on GBA SP (first game console I ever got). I've always been a fan of Megaman after playing various games on my cousins game consoles, and this game only isolated my love further. I am very fond of the unique deck-based combat introduced in the series, never having really experienced it elsewhere. That, and it has one of my favorite boss battles of all time, Serenade.EXE. First time seeing a non-binary character ever, making me question things.

Probably Dark Souls 1. I still play it, and still enjoy the hell out of it. I love exploring Lordran, and out of all the Souls games I feel like it struck the (near) perfect balance of hard-but-fair that wouldn't be matched until Elden Ring. Dark Souls 2 and 3 really leaned into the Dark Souls reputation of brutal difficulty, but to the point where they weren't as enjoyable.

Resident evil 4 for sure. There's just something about that game that still awes and captivates me to this day. I grew up playing the originals especially the original big 3 and just going from what it was to the over the shoulder camera. Smarter enemies, Leon being the fan favorite character to this day it was different.. it helped that I spoke Spanish too so I knew what the enemies where saying. The settings from the village to the castle and island, the boss fights. Just, it's not difficult to say the game was revolutionary and the effects and inspirations the game had on video games and video game development can still be found today!!!

Honestly, I don’t really have a favourite… Rather I play a couple games I really like the most.

That being said, I still find myself playing TF2 even after all these years.

Weird pick, but I REALLY loved Dishonored. So much fun, so so much lore (It's really unbelievable the amount of lore in that game). The aesthetics were spot on, but unfortunately the graphics feel VERY dated.

Metroid Prime, the design of the world, the way it plays, it all kinda wraps up so well together, and even though the remake came out only just recently, the original version still holds incredibly strong to this day.

Mass Effect Trilogy

Final Fantasy 14. From the story, to the world building, to the bomb ass sound track, to the cinematic scenes that take place in certain battles, to the characters you meet along the way, the love the makers have for the game and the series as a whole. Its definitely worth it if you like time sinks.

Either that, or the Octopath Traveler series. Both 1 and 2.

Ooooh. Probably Outer Wilds. Just cause it’s one of those unique narrative games you can really only fully enjoy once. There’s something that’s really hard to put into words about the highs and lows that game gives you.

Killer7, hands down. Nothing I have ever played since has been quite so totemic in its' weirdness as Killer7, I love it.

HAP BIRTH and wow, what a question! My fav game would be probably Metal Gear Solid 3. If you like stealth games and don't mind long cutscenes with lots of world building and exposure in them, it's a go to. Then again, I have a feeling you may have already played the games, snrrk. I love the saga as a whole, and MGS3 has a strong tie for me with MGS:PeaceWalker for first.

If you want something NEW that I've been putting hours into, I recommend Horizon's Gate. It's a very cute pixel game where you control a captain of some sailors and you have some basic objectives in a very open world where you manage your crew, your ships, your classes and go through randomized quests and the such, with an overarching quest as a whole.

If, instead, you want something on the fighting games type of thing, I recommend playing Granblue Fantasia Versus Rising, it has a free demo and honest to god, I did not expect a gacha game to have such a fun fighting game. The mechanics are easy and it is great for newbies, with a high skill ceiling.

If you wanna go back to some shooter type of game that has some comfortable gameplay, you may also get into Roboquest, which is a roguelite where you play as a robot that can get improvements on the go, with different weapons and skills for different styles. Also allows coop online.

For my most recent game that has made it into my favourites, Armored Core 6. The story is really cool, the gameplay is very fun, if you're skilled with a controller you'll feel badass as hell... Overall a great experience.

And, for my final recommendation... Cough, cough... HAVE YOU HEARD OF THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XIV WITH AN EXPANDED FREE TRIA--

Kinda late to this, but I'd recommend Mirror's Edge. Just started playing it for the first time in years. I absolutely love the vibe, the soundtrack, and the gameplay, even if I'm not the best at it.
