Retinopathy.. Going blind
General
Weeks ago I had a strange floater in my so I went to the emergency room at Mass Eye and Ear to make sure my retina wasn't detaching because I'm a poorly cared for type 1 diabetic.. and yesterday I had a follow-up appointment with one of the top doctors at Mass Eye and Ear.. he let me know my endocrinologist drop the ball on my care and I now have severe diabetic retinopathy. Basically my vision will not be getting better. I'm going in next week to have my peripheral vision burned out by laser in my right eye to preserve what Vision I do have and the week after that I will be getting the same treatment in my left eye. After that they are going to wait and see if I will need injections into my eyeballs every 2 months to reduce the swelling in my retina. I'm extremely upset.
Commissions are on hold for the foreseeable future. I'm going to be putting out adoptables and selling off stuff in my toyhouse to provide for my blind kitty.
My toyhouse... everything without a lock symbol in my character's folder is for sale. If there is no price it is up for offers. Please consider buying.

Hey, I have Type 1 Diabetes with Retinopathy, too. It's developing very slowly for me, so hopefully it'll be slow for you too

I hope so. I've had diabetes for 24 years and honestly it's been challenging. I don't know what I'll do without my eyes

I often worry about that too. I just suppose we have to make the best of it while we can 🥲

Oh yikes. I have to get injections in my left eye every 3 months or so because of an old injury + a rare genetic condition. (I had laser surgery at the time of the injury itself to stop the bleeding.) The injection's scary at first, but I've gotten used to it. And the doctor said it might even IMPROVE my vision by working to reduce the internal scarring. So far, I haven't really seen an improvement, but it's not getting worse, either. But then I don't have diabetes, so your mileage may vary. Just wanted to give some input from the injection standpoint. Good luck!
