So, we finally got into a new place. I was going to make a public post detailing what's up and how things are going once we were fully settled. But it's sadly looking like that's not going to happen.
Our LL has left us without heat, turned the water off because it was on illegally and she didn't wanna get caught, has left us with her loads of hoarded junk so that we are unable to unpack, and worst of all, has sexually harassed our roommate.
We have not yet had our court date. It's on the 13th, and we should be able to get our eviction scrubbed from our record then. I don't know about how well known our lack of backpayment will be, tho. We're already gonna start looking at other places.
I am aware we have a legal case, and will be perusing one. But i want tips on how to keep ourselves safe in the meantime. I've tried moving her shit to one side, but she gets angry whenever i try and clean because she doesn't want ANYTHING thrown away, and some of it is "precious to her" and she "wants to know where everything is." She's also making us help her clean it all up. And when we say we can't do more work/don't want to, she keeps saying, "You wanna live here?" I've pointed out that we paid rent already. She doesn't care. Any time we complain about anything, she comes back with, "I wasn't expecting you til the 13th.," or, "You're still $400 behind on your deposit," or something else of similar caliber.
We are currently on a month-to-month lease. I'm terrified she'll terminate us before we can find somewhere else or get help. Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this until we're able to get a lawyer involved?

Document the entire situation. Always have a camera ready. Cell phone ready. The second she begins to sexually harass anyone in your household, record it then call the cops. If they ask if you'd like charges pressed, depending on where this course of action will lead you, say yes. Then let them know you need a safe place to go and ask for options. The police may be able to help you secure a hotel/motel for a bit. It's expensive but some hotels/motels offer month to month rentals.
Part of the reason we fear calling the cops is that we're in KY and the cops here are very unfriendly to queer folks. AND they almost always take the old lady's side. So we can't do that til we have evidence.
