A new Year, and new ideas

As I am acknowledged by California as disabled, but because of my work history (and lack thereof as least in the timeframe they want) I don't qualify for government aid.

So, I am working on ways I can make money from home. A good friend who I often bounce ideas off has suggested using my ceramic skills and make small but likeable figurings ..... I'm liking the idea but I need to research the best way to do that from my home (While I'd LOVE a small kiln, don't have the funds for that)

My crochet is still a slow moving project.... while I love amigurumi but I'm slow and I don't know many I need to make before I can sell any. Something to work on, I suppose.

My friend was also interested in astrological signs in my style.... I should finish coloring my Chinese Animal Zodiac pieces. The were designed for my 3" button machine and I don't see many BUTTON sales these days with art so maybe its time to bring those back.

Ideas are many, inertia is to be overcome.

I think it's very common in the ceramics world to throw at home and then haul a bunch of stuff at once to a local studio to fire it. I'm not sure if that much transportation is reasonable for you.

Making and selling totes and bags is also a reasonable at-home craft. Some online sites I'm reading suggest that good quality handmade quilts can sell for anywhere between $25-100 per square foot (about $1000-$4000 for a queen size quilt).

Making fursuits is definitely an option, and we all know how much those can sell for.

Fursuiting can be an expensive outlay for materials and tools, though. Something to build up towards, perhaps. Start with just heads or partials, then move on to full. Soooo much to consider.

I have a LOT of fur in storage, but it was for making stuffies, not fur suits. although Ken mentioned he would wear a Ken-sized bunny suit of the green bunny I made for him.... hmmm....

Yes, I have to find a local studio that will let me use their kiln. And I have make a bunch of things like bags, ponchos and crochet blankets, I have made plush toys but not of my own patterns (I tore apart a bunny and kept resizing it to the point Ken joked he would wear it as a Fursuit!

Sounds like you've got a few directions to investigate! I've been getting into tinkering with sewing machines lately so if you find yourself with a misbehaving machine (or want to pick one up cheap and get it running again) I can totally lend you a hand in that direction.

I still have the original sheets for those, the mini buttons that are just sounds (Yip) and the standard sized ones with phrases on them. And yes, I could make more of them as I have the all-metal button machines and their notions.
