I have been waiting since like 2015 or thereabouts when I first saw news of this movie being in early development/pre-production. And finally, FINALLY it's happening!!

Huh, I somehow missed that in the trailer! Though, I'm not unhappy about that given the two act structure of the show, especially since it means the climax of part one will almost certainly be Defying Gravity. <3 <3

Yeah, they pretty much confirmed that's where the break will be, as the song was written to be a curtain drop afterwards. And given the stage show is what, some three hours total? That means there's room to breathe with a few extra things added in (one new song confirmed), rather than cutting scenes and characters.

For having been waiting for a movie since 2015? I mean, I am over 30 which does fit the oldschool definition of greymuzzle from when I joined the fandom, but I don't think THAT'S the reason to call me one. :P :P

Pfffff no, I'm not 84, was just referencing a meme gif of an old lady saying "It's been 84 years..." that's used frequently to refer to things that folks have been waiting forever for. :D I'm a sprightly 35. :P

My cousin and I watched a local production of Wicked 10 years ago, and we're going to watch the film adaption during the holidays.
Also, as a big fan of Idina Menzel, I'm also sharing the film's trailer with my students and plan on reading her book, Loud Mouse (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_HDz0l9_kk), to them.

Ever since I read the book back when it came out I've hoped that there would be a good movie made of lt. I SO would love to work on it. I'm a bit disappointed that it's of the musical, though, but I suppose that means that the movie of the original book could still be made. No doubt someone has optioned that.

Haha yeah the book is such a different thing that they'd definitely require two entirely different adaptations. I'm personally glad it's the musical version being made, but to each their own, certainly room in the world for folks who prefer either one. <3

Oh, absolutely. No reason there can't be multiple versions of things. I also haven't seen the musical, so I really can't judge that.
