One reason is that the noisy white people being offended have money to afford lawyers.

The only thing I have in response to this is the so-called "wokeness" that Disney is pushing isn't actually genuine. While it's nice to see them have more people of color in their movies, they only do that because that attention, whether negative or positive, earns them money. Take last year's remake of "The Little Mermaid". The reason the role of the title character was given to Halle Bailey was because the attention it would get would increase their profit. (On a parenthetical note, Bailey wasn't a bad choice for Ariel; she does have a good singing voice.) If it were more financially advantageous to make Ariel white, Disney would have done that. (I can go further with what they did with the three seconds of video of "gay Lefou" and how that isn't actually as woke as you think, but your post was about race.)

This fact also applies to their non-remake content. "The Force Awakens" got attention when trailers featured a black character in its primary cast. Again, this was done to get attention. However, you can't really say that Disney was being woke here because movie posters in China, which has a much bigger racism problem, showed Finn less prominently than in the American posters.

I'm not typing this because I'm a simp for Disney. Disney has done some truly deplorable things in an effort to increase profit. I would be in favor of the dissolution of Disney's special status in Orlando if the reason for said dissolution weren't DeSantis' attempt to cancel Disney for not publicly agreeing with the governor's authoritarian anti-gay legislation. Their recent content often has ranged from mediocre to downright atrocious, including the aforementioned films. Having watched Disney films for as long as I can remember, they're probably in their absolute worst time in their history.

I simply wanted to let you know that, when Disney does things like what you describe, they're not actually being woke. "Mulan" 1998 and others show Disney has been woke before and was better at it. They're simply trying to have their cake and eat it, too: they want to appeal to as much of the market as possible, yet it results in them appealing to no one. It's not so much "Go woke, go broke" as it is, "Make the facade of wokeness the only thing you have to offer, go broke."

It's not an anti-gay legislation, it's a parental rights bill, Disney and the media that where the one spinning it as a anti-gay legislation without reading what the bill really is. Back to Disney I hope they get sued to oblivion cause their action has now going to stigmatize people like me and other with the woke label.

If you want to pass a law that targets LGBT people, you’re not going to frame it as such. You’re going to say things like, “This law will protect children from adult content,” or “We just want parents to have a say in how to educate their kids”. The question is: What if said parents are heavily indoctrinated into thinking that being gay or trans is bad? Well, if their kids turn out to be gay, they’re going to believe that they are just inherently bad. With information that has been documented for decades, those children can go, “So this is not just a me thing. It’s totally normal for this to happen”. And they can avoid going down that self-destructive path. The law would, in practice, prevent said kids from accessing the information and resources needed.

Also, not completely related as it is not about parental choice, but the law outlines “protections for children from adult content”, which by the way was also the wording of Russia’s infamous “anti-gay propaganda” law.

From what I heard, the “Don’t Say Gay” bill bars teachers that teach from kindergarten to third grade from revealing that they’re gay to their students or something along those lines. And the whole “war” with DeSantis started after it was revealed either Bob Chapek or someone at Disney donated to the DSG bill and after getting backlash, Chapek spoke out against the bill and DeSantis. Then the whole Reedy Creek thing happened, but I digress.

That shows that Disney is actually not that woke, or at least Disney execs are, which was the point of my comment. Again, no matter how evil a company's actions are, if they think it will make them money, they will do it.

And as for the law itself, if there's a teacher that's showing "The Normal Heart" to third graders, that teacher should be removed, much like if a teacher showed "Fritz the Cat" to third-graders. Here's the thing, though: By and large, this is not a thing that happens. What's happening is a male teacher saying, So this is my husband" or a female one saying, "Here's my wife". They're not describing their X-rated private life.

If anything I'm glad Disney is losing the Reedy Creek, their a entertainment company not a government.

To your first section, I will be honest, most kids will hear their female teacher say "my wife" or male teacher say "my husband" and think nothing of it. However, some kids grow up in households where their parents have been heavily indoctrinated into thinking that being gay is bad. While teachers, yes, are supposed to teach kids, kids who grow up in such environments can find school to be an alternative place where they can talk about these issues more freely. On top of that, there can be stuff in school libraries that can help inform them about their identity. This law prevents kids from getting that information.

It really is not about protecting kids from brainwashing. The fact that PragerU content is allowed to be used in schools as a bona fide educational program shows that they actually don't give a damn about brainwashing children so long as it's their ideology that they're putting in kids' brains.

Also, as I've said earlier, a politician that wanted to pass a law targeting LGBT people would not likely say, "I want to target gay people". They'd say, "This law is to keep kids away from brainwashing" or something along those lines. The justification for this law has been, "This is to protect kids from adult or harmful content," which was also the justification used by Russian politicians who supported the so-called "anti-gay propaganda" law.

I will say this, I'm glad Disney is finally being held accountable. I just want to set the record straight that they're not actually that woke or progressive.

As to whether or not this is educationally suitable for kids, I think most of the things being shown to kids would be the likes of "Leo and Layla" and their other stuff (which all have their own problems), not this.

I really don't feel sorry for Disney, especially since we've had the lawsuit incoming. The treatment to the actors they work with, as well as the quality of the product they've been putting out, this has been a long time coming for a while. It's certainly more entertaining to see what new debacle they get themselves into more than the actual content they put out nowadays, and that's saying something.

Any time they make an announcement on anything I just roll my eyes knowing that it's just another crap that they'll try to blame the fans on it's failure.

I may still enjoy most of Disney's content, but yeah, their work environment royally sucks ass. If losing this lawsuit doesn't light a fire under the company's ass and convince them to improve it by treating all their employees a thousand times better than they have before -- regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, mental health status, physical health status, economic status, etc. -- I truly believe this will turn more people away from working for the company in its entirety, whether it's for filmmaking, pitching shows or comics to the studio, working at the parks as a cast member, or even the cruise service.

I hope what I've written here doesn't make me a shill, I'm just really sick and tired of the entertainment industry treating people like shit, Disney and Warner Bros. being no exception. The only surefire way I'll ever agree to work for Disney is if, from this moment on, the company in its entirety treats all its employees equally: each employee treated like gold, each one treated like family, each one given a hefty paycheck to help their employees live fulfilling, economically stable, and happy lives, and every single kind of insurance being covered, no matter what!! No more abuse, no more racial profiling, no more tightwad paychecks, no more bullshitting, no more class profiling (or whatever it's called), none of that bullshit!!! And the same goes for Warner Bros, too, especially under David Zaslav's reign of terror!

A thousand more apologies for the long-ass rant, I just needed to get all this out of my system, especially considering your experience working for the company. It just isn't fair the way you were treated by them. And I realize what I'm hoping for is wishful thinking -- more so now than before -- but it's exactly the kind of company I aspire to work with, under those conditions, with those employee-treatment policies, and more. I sure hope, someday, there'll be a company with those exact policies for us to want to work for.

(Also, I'm hoping that not only does Disney lose against this lawsuit, but that it'll light a fire under their asses to improve their overall work force and treat all their employees the way I mentioned up above. Disney's been in a drastic need to change their work environment for the better, and losing the lawsuit just might be what it takes to meet that bridge and cross it.
