Mint Mint Mint Mint Mint... and butterscotch? (G)
I am known for loving mint. I mean, I have been on stage as a GOH before and ripped into a box of Junior Mints with my teeth, scattering them everywhere. Luckily there was help nearby to help me in my emergency by having another box ready. WHEW!
York Peppermint Patties are strong, but not as good as Junior Mints.
Altoids- there used to be a time I'd get tins given to me at cons but sealed or made unopenable by clever and sadistic fans (NEAT!). I have had tins wrapped in chains, welded shut, epoxy glued, a bajillion rubber bands and the ultimate one- a tin completely encased forever in a dome of clear resin to taunt me for my lifetime. Some crazy and fantastic ideas.
Seems like most popular brands of foods are really cutting back on the flavor in the last couple of years. Pringles potato chips are nearly bland. Seriously, many foods simply don't have the flavor they once did in the effort to cut down costs. All that has done is had me cut them out of my grocery shopping. If I want to eat something with the flavor of styrofoam, I guess rice cakes would do. No thank you.
But where do you still get flavor?
When I visit Dairy Queen, I get a small sundae as part of a chicken strip basket ($8 deal!). Instead of hot fudge or other popular flavor, I request mint syrup. They look at you odd, that's for milkshakes and Blizzards, not as a sundae syrup. But they do it, and it really is quite good.
Oddly enough, it still isn't to my needs. BUTTERSCOTCH topping is awesome on mint ice cream. I know, seems weird, but it has an almost alcoholic kicker to the mint flavor that you can feel through your entire mouth and nasal cavity. It's a 1-2 combo that is hard to beat.
What sorts of flavor combos have you tried to overcome the bland wasteland of food today?
