If you want a Soul's game that trains you + no "Corpse Form" penalties, play Valheim.
Even has a better Magic system for spellcaster-characters; not just Melee only.

I'm currently playing Tunic, and yeah, maybe it's the classic Zelda influence, but bombs rule there. They can be quite the money pit with bosses but at least cash remains relevant in that game and it's not like in Hollow Knight where you literally run out of items to buy at two thirds of the game

I'd tell you to Git Gud, but honestly the parrying system is a pain.
Great for monsters. Not so much for bosses. And it just ruins me. Every time.

The git-gud mentality is poisonous. Congrats, you're in the top ten Hollow Knight speed runners. That's a lot of time well spent playing the same game over and over.

Git gud is right up there with "skill issue". Way to reduce a person to two words.

Yeah, the reward isn't worth the deaths it requires. I will leave perfect parrying to streamers and kids with way too much free time on their hands.

Even just giving various enemies similar attacks with the same time, but at less damage, to have context beforehand would be nice. Like how a regular game will throw a battle mechanic at you as practice throughout a chapter before forcing you to master it on the boss of the region.

The stakes are just always too high to afford experimentation. You go down in three hits and the last checkpoint is kilometers away. It's so anxiogenic.
