Well basically it revolved around the idea that things that you loved when you were younger tend to lose their appeal with you over time. It mostly centered along the concept of depression, with Stan suddenly seeing everything as crap, despite his efforts to see it as otherwise. His parents struggled with how they aren't fond of the newer things that kids like with Sharon coming to terms with it while Randy fights it, causing a rift between them.
I'm not necessarily saying that we're depressed or anything, but I do feel that losing passion for our activities through consistent exposure to them is part of getting older.
