I hope that your mother will get better soon. I've kinda had to do a bit of juggling myself with taking care of my aging parents and my personal life.

I have experience on running two households, since my parents tend to take week long vacations. You are right, it is taxing to do, when you also have a 8-16 no-fun-job to do. It's draining away all the energy to do anything else but sleep and repeat. I can fully understand you!
