Had a weird experience today. Got a random message from someone I did a ych for over a month ago out of the blue telling me that they were apparently dissatisfied with my lack of RP in my messages with them while we were figuring out the details.

Like…?

I don’t RP really? Especially if there’s no explicit consent to it?

And of course they immediately block me after typing out a long note about how they felt forced to conform to how I wanted to converse. Again. Like…? Sorry I’m not super verbose in general. I was also dealing with my one of my oldest friend’s substance abuse issues at the time. I like to think that people can be more mature and rational than that but…ok. I hope they find what they’re looking for and get any help they need. Guess I’m the A-hole, but then again you are what you eat XD.

No, that is most certainly a them-problem. Demanding rp for a commission is just straight up... weird...
Also the them feeling forced to conform to how you want to converse while they try to force you to converse in their way, is just absurd.
Ignore them. They are not worth the time.

It really was a wild and ridiculous encounter. I can only figure they’ve got some personal stuff going on that boiled over. I try not to be too judgemental though, pretty sure that tantrum wasn’t actually about me.

I think that’s a good way to look at it. I try not to judge too much anyway. I’m almost certain that this wasn’t really even about me to begin with but just an outlet to deal with something else in their life. Bygones.

It was too wild not to share and get some perspective though.

I used to do RPing and I can get that, but then I had someone wreck RPing for me in general because they just wanted to spend my time giving them material to beat with (and weren't even paying me). Thus I always stomp hard when I hear someone suggesting that I should RP with them when it's not my primary interest anymore. Sometimes you just have to put your foot down. It doesn't matter what issues they have; if they're the ones bringing them to the table, they shouldn't force them onto you or make you feel bad for not playing along.

The part there they said “I was clearly wanting to RP based on the way I was talking” as if to say I had consent was very funny given that they clearly couldn’t fathom my own consent needing to go the other way.

Lol, the only thing that bugs or disturbs me about people like that is knowing that I apparently have to share the same planet as them. Any psychosis they have directed at me gets filed in my brain right next to the pros of eating tide pods.
