No One's Going To Talk About This?
Maybe its just me being a bit overprotective...
I've been a member of FA for 19 years, and I've seen a lot of stuff from time to time - and I've been loyal.
However, has anyone gone over/visited/viewed Fur Affinity (dot) com?
I mean - previously, this was just a blank domain and -before- that, a full tilt porn site (and nothing to do with furry I might add :B)
NOW, however, it runs the same way that the main site (.net) does. (not withstanding the same drama Im sure :P)
Is this something that
has approved??? Because to me, that's clear copyright infringement.
If any of the admins have any comment about this, I'd love to hear it!
P.S. Interestingly it also has the same paw logo that FA.net does, except without the "rainbow pawprint" :B

FA+

"McDowell's" vs. er...well, you know, that other comapny :P
Until when it isn't :|
if that were true, then we wouldn't have copyright laws.

i checked several of the pages and with the exception of one intelligent person who uses it to point to their uploads here on FA.net i mainly noticed little recent activity, and a lot of Russian/Boosty users. what hurts? boggles? me the most is that in current year the usernames spread from a few i recognize to name-y sounding names to the kind of gibberish stuff that you'd see as an amazon brand listing - but they're all equally legitimate from what i can tell.
as far as whether the site constitutes actionable infringement, idunno. the layout and format are pretty clearly different and tbh i don't see that platform taking off any time soon. full caveat emptor in effect for anyone who somehow gets messed up by it...
I'm gonna go back to hiding on discord, the world is moving too fast for my grandma-agin' ass!!
Their terms of service claim to own the trademark for 'furaffinity' in the US, so I searched on the US Patent and Trademark Office. I found one result that is clearly for furaffinity.net, but apparently it was canceled in 2018 because "registrant did not file an acceptable declaration under Section 8."

There was another result: it was filed in June of 2023 and "published for opposition" on April 9th of this year. It's owned by some individual in Guangzhou, China. Looking at the website's source code, there's some javascript at the bottom that has comments written in chinese, which suggests that this trademark is related to the website.

I really hope I'm misunderstanding something. Did furaffinity (.net) somehow forget to maintain its own trademark? This isn't good.
