I'm constantly attempting to convey something I feel like is un-convey-able. I'm not very good at communicating verbally in real life and like most artists I think I communicate best with art. I definitely use it as a way to process, but honestly it's an attempt at recording a process I feel like is really really hard to translate into anything real :P

hehe yeah i definitely understand! it's like translating something, i think, but it's harder because there's no solid one-to-one translation!

That's a really good question actually- It's mostly motivation-based for me. If i've got an idea and i wanna do it, i'll try to draw it before the motivation seeps away again heh. But, my bigger inspiration would be two artists, called Simon Stalenhag and Peter Ferguson. At some point, maybe when i've got a bit more skill, i'd really love to focus on these kinds of things. Surreal, vast, atmospheric and to me, kinda comforting in a weird way, sorta like liminal spaces. "Strange but somehow cozy" is probably the thing i wanna achieve with my stuff at some point.

wow, ive never heard of those artists before! simon has such a way with capturing empty spaces. peter's pieces have such a baroque feel to them too. i really enjoy what you've made, i think you will get wherever you want to go with time and practice!

I can't recall the exact sentence, but someone described my work in a very good way - something about inviting complexity into simple things. I enjoy ordinary subjects and instead of portraying something extraordinary I simply emphasize and expand on what is already there - by that I mean I draw lines, shapes, and colors where there aren't any, but somehow it makes sense for them to be there. I usually don't think too hard about it. But if I had to be more concrete about the feeling I would say it's something tense and stretched - but calm and still at the same time. Kinda like yoga... if it makes sense. I hope I didn't ramble too much.

I don't draw but I write, endlessly deconstructing myself and my negative emotions in some attempt to forgive myself or somehow prove myself against my negative emotions, to not feel like I'm useless

For attention, some kind of narcissistic urge that I somehow can do something special, a love for art, that art can be cathartic and be a way to channel emotions, wanting to be contrarian and deconstruct other things but that that's also a self destructive desire, I think I just want to write about contradictory emotions and projections and masking because its interesting and I think I'm an interesting person but that's selfish and not everyone is just me, people are different and have their own lives.

I think nostalgia can also be a powerful emotion, I think things felt better when I was younger, less numb, even when there's things I hate from the past as well and am glad to have matured and moved past those things, but in some ways I also feel like I haven't changed as a person but I know I've changed too. There's things from the past that I miss but also things that are better, I'm a better person in ways and other ways I'm not. I hate people who look at the past nostalgically but apply that feeling to society and everything as a whole, you have younger people who talk about the 2000s or early 2010s like they were this simplier time compared to the pollitically complex times we live in now but that's just simply not true, you were younger, of course you weren't as aware of world goings ons when you were younger and I think some people do grow up and become more depressed or just realize the reality of being an adult isn't as fun as a child and they talk about this emotion but don't realize it's deceptive and act like the past as a whole and society as a whole was simplier when it wasn't, things are always complex, the past had its issues too
