So for the longest time I have been wary of this movie.
Not because of some need to avoid the popular consensus. More than anything to I want to work as a storyboard artist for 2d animation... but I didn't want to see this movie fanboyed over because it was 2d or anything or because it had cute critters in it. I wanted to see a good movie receive good press...No one seemed to understand how important the success and execution of this movie really was. How much was on the line.
Frog Princess is excellent. Go see this movie. It was quite obvious that the animators and everyone worked on this movie pouring every ounce of passion they had. Seeing this movie showed me that Disney can and is back on track.
This movie is beautiful and for many reasons. After a good few months of discouragement, this movie reminded me of my passion for this profession. Reminded me why I'm pounding so hard on the doors to get in. Why I shouldn't and will not stop.
Go see this movie, support it. See it a few times. You'll be glad you did. Hell if you're local I'LL GO WITH YOU! Just please go see this movie. More movies like this need to be made!!

I can't wait to see it myself ><
Although I haven't seen it yet (I so want to though), I think I was thinking the same thing. Ever since I started to become an animation fan, I started learning about things like 2D art and whatnot, and I was excited to hear that Disney was going to return to the style of the old days.
So I'm definitely glad this film has been a hit. Now I am just worried that they might create a sequel (and we know how those always do ).
But I do hope I get the chance to see the film soon. I'm hoping it comes to my small-town theater ($3 to get in, $4 for a soda and popcorn, and $1 dollar for a refill lol). I've seen so many people say such great things about it, that it has made me even more anxious to see it.
(Out of respect for those involved with the mouse, who apparently have to be extremely careful what they say when known to be associated with it)
But it's one of the main reasons I watch the show every week (also because I enjoy the show and it makes me laugh, but hey!). :D
Though lately, I hear the Internet Drama Viper has reared its ugly head and may have removed him from any sort of internet-public view again. :\
And I'll be seeing the movie tomorrow afternoon. :D
All in all, The Princess and the Frog has my ringing endorsement!
But of course. I need to draw Ray next. That lil' bug near stole the movie for me.
It's a shame my little brothers won't be allowed to see the movie because of the eeeeevil magicssssssss in it. :/
If this film is as good as the reviews make it out to be, then I hope this will send Disney a clear message that 2D animation is still worthy of great stories, and that predictable, live action 'tween comedies will only get you so far.
I had high hopes and I love Disney movies, but it was kind of a letdown and nothing about this movie says, "Classic". Once it's out of theaters, it'll fall to the wayside and be forgotten.
